Choose Small Achievable Goals To Reach Fitness
Success
A
fitness challenge is a great event to become a part of at the end
of the year. The main idea here is to pick a few simple goals to
achieve by January 1st, but choose something real. The goal should
be easily attainable and something you can stick to.
Several people have made goals such as to NOT gain any extra weight
during the term of the challenge or to show the same or lower weight
by the beginning of the New Year. One of the most common problems
is weight gain through Thanksgiving, Halloween and Christmas. We
tend to eat more, drink more and just be merry but you do not need
a merry belly or jelly bottom.
The reason this challenge is great is the because of the timing
of my competition. I will compete very soon and like many competitors
can relate to, you end up filling up on things you have been craving
for months. You over do it and pile on multiple choices of junk
food per day topped with the fact that you are so lean for contest
that you gain immediately due to the normality change in meal frequency,
type and amounts. Introducing carbs alone can be a fast gain if
you do not keep active during the post contest phase.
My goal is to smooth into my post contest by keeping up cardio
and weaning down slowly while normal foods are reintroduced. I intend
to keep my cheats to weekends only and not go too overboard. I will
slowly increase calories rather than shock my system with too much
at once.
Little goals like this can be very reasonable and most importantly
achievable. Look at the small things you want such as to decrease
the amount of a certain item you find yourself a slave to. Maybe
you want to add a 15 minute brisk walk into your everyday because
you sit and never do much walking? Many of you could use a goal
of drinking more water each day!
Think about being pleased with small efforts. Many times we need
to grab for that brass ring which I am all for, go big for sure,
but for this challenge I just want you to reach out and touch the
ribbon attached to the brass ring. It is a step toward being in
closer reach to that brass ring! Just think how cool you are to
be ahead of your New Year resolutions?
Choose some small achievable goals, keep track of your goals and
benchmark your present weight with your body stats. Keep a small
fitness journal of your daily feelings, food intake and exercise.
This will keep you on the right track for ultimate fitness success!
