Exercise Questions - Can I Get Great Abs From a Balance Ball?

exercise questions Exercise Question:
Recently I was told by a friend about the balance ball and how great it is to work abs. I am now doing advanced workout on the treadmill (incline up to 12 at 5 minute spurts) and also do a "walk away the pounds" tape. Is the balance ball a good place to start to get great abs?

exercise questions Exercise Answer:
Yes, the balance ball is one of the best exercises you can do to strengthen the abs. Here is the overview of the main exercise I recommend:

Once you get comfortable with the movement, try adding a 3-5 pound medicine ball to the exercise. Hold the ball with both hands over your head and make sure to stretch out very slowly and get a great negative. This will work your abs big time!

When you're ready to increase your workouts, try incorporating a weight training routine. Begin a weight training routine 3 times a week and focus on basic free weight movements such as bench press, squats, barbell curls and triceps push downs. These core exercises will build quality muscle which will burn more calories and give your body a drastic change in composition. You can review our weight training guides here:
