Exercise Questions - Which Fat Burner Should I
Use With My Diet?
Exercise Question:
I have been considering taking a fat burner to assist me with
my diet. What type would you advise?
Exercise Answer:
My honest opinion with the majority of the fat burners out on
the market is that they are about 99% marketing and 1% effective.
If you look at the ingredients, they mainly contain the same item
active ingredient, which is caffeine. Caffeine is a drug and has
ergogenic properties, which makes a very popular ingredient to add
to any "fat burner". However, by adding other so-called
"fat burning" ingredients, supplement companies can wrap
a flashy marketing wrapper onto a bottle and make outrageous claims.
There are much easier and cheaper ways to get caffeine. Coffee and
tea are probably the best known sources and you could grab a cup
before your workout. This will give you a little extra energy to
power you through your training and the effect will most likely
be that you will workout harder and burn more calories which will
lead to greater weight loss.
That being said, the biggest factor in losing weight and keeping
it off for a lifetime is to incorporate quality habits. In terms
of your diet, I can't stress enough how important it is to eat at
least 5 small nutritious meals each day. This is crucial for succeeding
on any fitness/diet plan and is one of the most important aspects
to losing weight and keeping it off for a lifetime! Eating several
small meals throughout the day keeps your metabolism stoked but
most importantly, it keeps some food in your stomach throughout
the day which will keep you from getting ravenous later at night.
By eating this way, you will have a far greater chance of success
since you will be eating to truly fuel your body.
