Exercise Questions - What Exercise Program Should
I Use To Gain Weight?
Exercise Question:
I'm looking for a program or whatever there is to help me gain
weight. I'm too skinny for my height. Can you help?
Exercise Answer:
The two biggest factors in gaining quality muscle mass is diet
and training intensity. For "hardgainers", which are usually
very lean individuals who have a hard time packing on mass, the
main issue is that simply are not eating enough food. "Hardgainers"
need to increase their calories and eat nutrient packed meals every
two to three hours. Shoot for eating at least five meals a day and
make sure to include a quality protein source with each meal, such
as a chicken breast or high quality whey protein powder. Between
meals, you can also snack on protein bars which is a great way to
make sure you're consuming enough protein everyday.
The other factor is your training intensity. Make sure to take
every weight training set to positive failure. The old saying is
"If you don't take your sets to failure, you'll have failure
with your sets." After your initial warm up set, make sure
you tax your muscles to the maximum and make them grow by incorporating
high intensity training into your program. If you have a spotter,
than free weights are the best but if you train alone, then focus
on machines. I prefer Hammer Strength machines for training to positive
failure since you can go all out and stay safe.
If you combine these two factors, I'm sure you will start making
quality gains in lean muscle mass and strength.
