Exercise Questions - How Many Days Per
Week Should I Train Muscles?
Exercise Question: I read you need to work each set of muscles 3 to 4
times per week. Is this true? Also for the past seven months I have been working
out and I have only lost 21 pounds but changed pants sizes from 42w to a 34w.
What can I do to get below 200 pounds?
Exercise Answer: I would recommend working each muscle group once a week.
If you go really heavy on a specific muscle group, you really should give your
muscles enough time to recover fully which may take a full week. If you train
with moderate to higher reps, you can probably work each muscle group twice a
week but I would recommend once. If you train with high intensity and really hit
the muscle group when you're in the gym, you will need those extra days for your
muscles to recover and grow.
To get below 200 pounds, this just simply comes
down to really fine tuning your diet and eliminating all the excess and empty
calories from your daily intake. The best way to do this is to write down everything
you eat. You can download our free diet journals here: I would recommend a general "clean" diet
to adhere to. I would focus on lean protein sources (chicken breast, turkey breast,
egg whites) and non-white starchy carbs such as brown rice, whole wheat pasta
and boiled red potatoes. If you can eat these starchy carbs and keep your body
fat down, then enjoy them!
