Exercise Questions - Does Adding Weights To Cardio Burn More Calories?

exercise questions Exercise Question:
I have been recently adding incline to my treadmill workout. I actually used the elliptical machine in physical therapy years ago and loved it. My husband was more into the treadmill but I would have definitely bought the other machine. Part of my walking routine on the treadmill I use 2 lb. weights to increase the intensity. Does that add extra calories burned?

exercise questions Exercise Answer:
Yes, if your using 2 lb. weights as upper body movements with your arms, than this will definitely burn more calories than walking alone. A few great exercises to do while walking with your 2 lb. weights are biceps curls, shoulder presses and lateral raises. Also, try punching with the weights like a boxer. These are great workouts that will use your entire body and burn many more calories. Make sure to limit any of these movements if you feel pain or discomfort.
