Bodybuilding Questions - Protein Before Morning
Cardio
Bodybuilding Question:
I read about doing cardio in the morning on an empty stomach.
Will this tap into lean muscle for energy instead of fat stores?
Also, since I try to eat every 2 hours, I find myself hungry around
8pm which is 2 hours after dinner. Any recommended snacks for this
time?
Bodybuilding Answer:
To make sure you don't tap into muscle, have a scoop (20-25
grams) of whey protein powder in water 20-30 minutes before you
start. This will give you enough protein to ensure protein and amino
acids are not being broken down during the cardio session. Just
make sure to limit all carbs before cardio.
A great late night snack is a cup of cottage cheese (nonfat) with
a scoop of vanilla protein powder and ground cinnamon. Mix it all
up in a bowl and it actually tastes very good. If you want to completely
cut carbs out, try a broiled chicken breast with a few scoops of
salsa on top.
