Weight Training Questions - Are Flutter Kicks
Bad For Your Back
Weight Training Question:
I was wondering if flutter kicks are bad for your back or if
they can injure your back in any way. I like doing flutter kicks
when I train my abs and sometimes I feel extra pressure on my back,
so I just want to make sure I'm not going to mess my back up.
Weight Training Answer:
Yes, flutter kicks can be stressful on the lower back and should
probably be avoided by anyone with lower lumbar issues. While doing
the movement, it does help to place your hands under your glutes
while doing the movement but this only provides minor support.
