Workout Questions - Tighten Up Pecs and Love Handles
Workout Question:
I have two questions which I hope you can help me with . The
first issue I have is the area between my armpit and pec. I still
have a little bit of fat in that armpit and pec area and I cant
seem to get rid of it. I started doing dumbbell flys on the flat
bench. Do you have any other suggestions? I have a good home gym
with cable machines, free weights and benches.
My other issue is that I used to have a huge spare tire around
my waist. Most of it is gone other than a little bit of fat around
my love handles. Do you have any tips to get rid of this last little
bit of stomach fat?
Workout Answer:
A great exercise to do with cables is "cable crossovers"
to tighten up that area between the armpit and pec area. Here is
an example of the crossovers:
Other good exercises are doing cardio with the elliptical machine
(using the handles with your arms) and jumping rope. These movements
will really help burn calories and tighten up that area
Concerning the area around your waist, the important thing is whether
its actually adipose tissue (fat) or loose skin. If it is fat, then
extra cardio and tightening up your diet will be the key to losing
it. However, if its loose skin then its almost impossible to get
rid of that without surgery to tighten it up. One of the best ways
to look at your lower abs. If you have fat in your lower abs, then
your not lean enough yet and the area around your sides is probably
fat. If you have lean lower abs (usually you will see veins just
below your lower abs when you're really lean), then the extra tissue
around your waist is most likely loose skin. It tough when we get
older since the elasticity in our skin decreases and doesn't snap
back and tighten up when we lose weight.
