Biography

It has been 12 years since I first started in the fitness industry and it has been an incredible journey.

It began with teaching aerobics in my hometown of Kindersley, Saskatchewan at the age of 15. I fell in love with teaching the first time I stepped in front of a class. Every since then I have been passionate about Fitness and I am always looking for new goals to set for myself.

I moved to Calgary, Alberta in September of 1996 where I took on a teaching job with Spa Lady. During the next 2 years, I attended Mount Royal College where I obtained my diploma in Physical Fitness Leadership.

Once I graduated from Mount Royal I had the travel bug and ended up in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for 4 months in the winter of 2000. This was a great experience not only to be able to teach to people from all over the world, but to experience the Mexican Culture.

Upon returning to Calgary in May of 2000, I once again worked for Spa Lady as the Head Trainer and Senior Fitness Instructor. In 2001, I made the move to Fitness on 5th where I began my journey to my goal of becoming a Fitness Coordinator. After 6 months as a weight room consultant, I became the Group Fitness Supervisor. It was a dream come true!

Since I started in the industry I had two goals set. One was to become a coordinator, which I am right now and two was to become an international Fitness Presenter.

In 2002, I presented for the first time with the Can-Fit-Pro. Since then I have done many regional presentations and I am currently working on moving that to a national level.

I decided in 2003 to expand my knowledge and experience in the industry by exploring the world of Fitness Competitions. I competed for the first time in the Alberta Body Building Association's Southern Body Building Competition. I was hooked! Even though I did not place well, I was in my haven.

This past year I decided to switch federations and competed with WNSO (World Natural Sports Organization). It was the best move ever! I placed first in the Fitness category and 5th in the Model Search at the Musclemania Prairies event. After finishing this, I was encouraged by family and friends to head to Toronto for Nationals. I ended up 64th out of 230 competitors in the Fitness Model Search.

Throughout my 12 years of working in the industry I have learnt a lot and am only more passionate about it than ever before.

I do not think that there could be a better career than one that promotes a positive, happy and healthy lifestyle. It is an industry that I will never leave or live without.
