I get up at 4:45 every morning and run for five miles. I never eat before I exercise. What do all of you eat before your workouts? I want something that will digest quickly so I do not become nauseated while I’m running.

Something quick.

Well a good bet would be something like a Banana. Almost 30g of Carbs, and should Breakdown fairly Quickly, or you could have some Low Fat Yoghurt. If you get one with Fruit Pieces in, you'll increase Carb levels further.

Being Yoghurt is a semi-solid, it should breakdown even faster than a Banana, although, you might get a slightly lower Carb intake with Fruit Yoghurt, over a Banana, but I would estimate about 5 grams at most difference.

Could be as low as 2g.

I think those two options woulds work best for you.

Good point. The Yoghurt will give Protein though. Depending on how much you're looking at about 6-8g, so depending on the length and intensity of the running, it might be enough.

If not Katie, you could try a different approach, which is to Scramble about 3 Egg Whites, and a Yolk, (Protein), on a Piece of Wheatbread Toast, (Carbs), then have the Fruit Yoghurt for additional Protein, and to get more Carbs.

The point is to eat something that will give you energy and is easily digested in the same time.. i recommend to add some honey on the yogurt...

Most important is to have some good carbs to fuel you. A small amount of protein with it as well is good. Oatmeal is a good choice.

You'll need something that is fast acting, by the time some food has got round your body and you body has processed if your run will have finished.

I always have a cup of coffee with skim milk before exercising in the morning. I have been doing that for years. Just a few days ago, I decided to try adding some fruit for the extra sugar. I ended up buying baby food! One small jar of puréed peaches or apricots has roughly 90 calories. There is no extra sugar added, plus it gives me extra vitamin C. It digests really fast. I think it’s working. I don’t feel quite as fatigued afterwards. Very Happy
