I'm new to this working out thing, just a couple weeks into it. I'm concentrating on weight loss and all around conditioning. I have been a no breakfast no lunch eating creature for as long as I can remember so needless to say my metabolism has been in salvation mode all these years. I am trying to get into eating something several times a day but it's a fight I go through... but i'll get there..

So here is the question... Why Whey Protein?

Also, any other supplements I should be looking at?

Whey protein is easily digested and absorbed by the body and provides about 22-30 g of protien per serving (depending on the brand). Protein is essential in building muscle, and muscle is essential in burning fat.
Take a multi vitamin daily, other than that, it's all about clean diet for you.
Congrats on taking the first step, please share all your successes with us!

The only other supplement, of that kind you might want is Glutamine, and I'm talking the sort of supplement classed in the meal replacement / bodybuilding category.

So possible other things like like Fat supps, I personally wouldn't class in that description, though they are potentially something to look into.

P.S. not to sound picky Smile, but I think you meant your Metabolism went into starvation mode, not salvation mode.

Thanks everyone!! And I did mean salvation mode, meaning my body is trying to save itself by my metabolism slowing down.... If I have it correct... Rolling Eyes

Then you're referring to Starvation mode.

if i was yhou i'd simply concentrate on increasing my meal frequency before anything else, supp's should be the last thing in your mind...they are exactly what they say they are, supplements...coming back from where tou've been (basically chrinically under eating) what could they possibly be "supplementing"??

does that make sense??

I've actually increased my eating quite a bit, I am eating several times a day now

breakfast
snack
lunch
snack
dinner
snack..

As far as what I'm eating, I'm still learning what to eat so to speak.. I am staying away from high fat/cholesterol content food. Mostly fruits, vegetables, whole grains, seafood, occasional beef.

P.S. I'm also working out five times a week, alternating between weight lifting (machines, haven't tried free weights yet) and cardio
