Hi! I am not looking to lose weight (27 y.o. female, 105lbs, 5 ft 2.5, small/med frame I guess). Ok, well maybe just a couple. lol I just want to change my body composition really. I've been on 1200 cals for quite some time maintaining although calculators say I should be maintaining at 1500. I think my metabolism took a dive for being on 1200 for so long, I wish I knew.
Anyway, I just started this routine a few weeks ago:
Mon: weight class (1hr)
Tues: off
Wed: weight class (1hr)
Thurs: 45 min cardio
Fri: off
Sat: circuit weight machines (1hr), 45 min cardio OR weight class (1hr)
Sun: 45 min cardio
(3 fullbody weight sessions and 2 or 3 cardio/week)
Is this enough cardio? I promised my husband I wouldn't go more than 5x's a week (I get obsessive). Should I add 15 min cardio to each weight class night? I just want to get toned in the least amount of time while maximizing my workout the days I'm at the gym. I should probably eat more cals too?
Help! Thanks in advance!

| Unless you have a goal for improving your cardiovascular performance that should be fine enough for cardio. I wouldn't add it on to the ends of other workouts. Yes, you do need to eat more,m but if you decide to add more cals do so VERY slowly to avoid weight gain. no more than 50 cals every week or two. Increasing faster can cause you to gain weight, which of course will just make you frustrated. Be patient with your metabolism as it improves. It takes time to see a real improvement. |
