What are your thoughts on max-ot training. Personally, I think its fantastic. I used to do the regular high volume training that is reccommended in muscle mags, but I would always plateau,. which may go some way as explaining why its so goo so far.i.e I would be exhausted before a session has ended.
Other reasons I think its so good is because of its long body part recoverys, and short exercise sessions, so you mentally focus all your energy on a body part.
Perhaps after a few more weeks I will hit a plateau again, which is bound to happen, then again, part of max-ot is to take a complete break for 1 week.
Another reason why I thin it works so well for me is that I think I have a more fast twitch muscle make up, meaning the rep range of 4-6 works well for me.

any program that had the same rep range for every exercise and every muscle like max-ot does is not very well thought out, regardless of fibre make up...you won't be 100% fast twitch so you still need some higher reps or you'll only fulfill "some" of your potential

will kill your joints too if done for a prolonged period

I think its the intensity achieved durin max-ot that is so bebeficial.
I kinda agree about the rep range, in the sense that different muscles respond differently to different ranges, but I have to say its really working for me.
I get what max-ot is sayin that higher rep ranges just exhaust the muscle instead of stimulating growth, but I'm gonna stick with it for now.
Don't know about killing the joints, any workout can. But it also encourages rest and recuperation.
In some ways Max-ot is like some of the hit principles, simpllifed and what Metzner threw out of his early thinkin.

lol. which muscle mag did ye get that from.
apparently yates only used heavy duty, and schwarzenegger trained 2-3 times a day, usin really high volume, 6-7 ndays a week. These mags have to be sold some way.I'm just sayin that max-ot is workin for me at da mo, it may be useless to me in a few weeks time, or I may change the rep ranges a bit.
What I am thinkin about doin is when Im finished this programme, I might do a bit of my own version of HIT, which produces great growth. What I do know for sure is dont listen to the mags, like colemans 3 by 12 for biceps, just try out some of the techniques, and if it works do it.
I have a make who works like this.
Him and his partner aim for 5reps. Ususlly a 5 by 5 session. If he doesnt do the five, say 4, he drops the weight till he thinks he has recovered enough to to the fifth. He also cheats a lot when he goes up a weight, its pure ignorance that gets him through it. Next time however, he is able to do the fifth with no assistance or rest. He has made huge gains, drugs free.

very true about the drus. People trash talk drugs, but sure without them these physiques would not be possible. The emphasis seems to be more on mass now than symmetry. Are even the drug free bodybuilders really drug free?
Think Ronnie may have had a powerlifting background, but then again, variety is the spice of life. Everything has its benefits. Also notice, most top bodybuilders are in their 30s before winning major tittle. It takes years to become like that, no quick fixes like mags and sites promise.
A lot of bodybuilders have terrible core and inner muscle strength. The likes of Ronnie, Arnold and Yates (Especially yates and Arnold) have that thick sinuey look from having really heavy lifting phases......I think!

However is a physique like that worth it.

Just because Coleman can do Leg Presses of a tonne +, doesn't mean he should. He's using so much Steroid, and Growth Hormones, making it past 60 years, could be the biggest achievement in his life, not multiple Mr O titles, and a Tonne Plus on Leg Presses.

I rememeber a guy on a board I used to go on, that's know defunked, who was about 220lbs used, and got to about 40 years old, and had to stop the Steroids. Not through choice, but he was lifting so much weight on Delt exercises, it had shot his Rotator Cuffs to bits.

So realistically he was going to eat hard, train a bit lighter, and take some quality supplements, possibly Promhormones and maybe products like 6-oxo, that are often used between cycles, though I'm not terribly au fai with products like that.

Well there are natural organisations with strict testing, so some people can do those if they're naturals.
