I am trying to get my traps bigger as I am mad jealous of a guy at work that has big traps natrually Laughing

I am reading that people don't reccomend shrugs because of posture and that is fine with me cause the health of my back is questionable anyways and I would need to go fairly heavy to get much benefit as I'm pretty strong as is.

So.... what excercises do you reccomend???

Bench Press
Overhead Press (Mostly)
Deadlift

A good workout for your traps is upright rows

Cleans (power or technical), Clean & Jerk, Military or push press, clean or snatch grip pulls. Guaranteed traps and other good stuff.
I wouldn't suggest heavy upright rows unless you want a rotator cuff injury. Don't touch them for anything more than light weight pre-hab work.

if your leg was sore would you simply cut it off?

as D said o lifts are the way to go as well as deads but i think you're a moron for going out of way to grow them 9no offense) and good luck when your 60 and can't look upwards

I'm not making fun of your bald head, but as a trapasaraus I'd rather bite off a bald head then one full of hair. Puking up hairballs is not attractive.

Thanks for the replys.

The reason i want bigger traps is because I feel that mine are small compared the rest of my muscle structure. Maybe I worded the original question incorrectly. I don't see what is so moronic about balance.

Not so much balance, but if they get too big, because you're doing things that may encourage more stimulus in that area of the Back, as opposed to roughly equal stimulus in Traps and Lats, you may cause posture issues, or look slightly wrong, or disproportionate.

why not make your hams, glutes or back bigger? i'm sure they're more out of balance than your traps

Im sure that you have lots of knowledge and are a well respected member of these boards. I can see by your post count that you have a genuine interest in helping people. That being said, calling someone moronic and then assuming things about someone you don't know at all are not the best ways to go about it.

If you will notice my post count you will see that I am brand new to this forum. I came to this forum because I was told it was a good place to bounce ideas and get advice. When I ask questions and get a bunch of sarcasm and assumptions, it doesn't make me feel too welcome. Maybe I came to the wrong place.

mate i apologise if you took it the wrong way...you already said that you knew they weren't much good from what you've read (upper traps development) yet you still feel the need to train them hard...

what i posted is what is good for you whether you agree with it or not...what you do with the advice is up to you and none of my business really but if i see that what you're doing is not ideal, than i'll say what i think i need to say
