So I was reading the article about sprinting being more effective than simply running because it speeds up one's metabolism faster, and decided to wake up at five this morning to go sprint around my neighborhood. After showering and eating breakfast, I ended up falling asleep.
My question is, was all the sprinting I did a total waste? Doesn't sleeping slow down one's metabolism? And thus, is it bad to sleep after exercising and does it effect results?

Whoa long list of questions. Thank you for taking your time in reading this! If you could help me, I would be most grateful.

You have been able to sleep ? Many peoples experienced insomnia when training too late and/or before sleep.

True I don't think it would be optimal and remember, the first things you do after pissing and washing your hands when you wake up is eat.

Yes th sleeping would slow down matabolism as it decreases Bloodflow, BPM, and Brain activity, due to not processing as many sights and sounds.

Also if you hadn't eaten, low Bloodsugar, coupled, with Bloodsugar reducing activity, coupled with the fact Bloodsugar does decrease through sleep via lack of nutrition, and you've got a not too great scenario.

if you had eaten then that's better obviously.

So it would be best to wake up, eat something, wait another 20ish minutes, then start running, and NOT fall asleep afterwards, right?

- first of all have breakfast before doing anything in the morning
- sleeping slows metabolism a little bit only because you're not eating or doing anything
- it's greeat to sleep (30mins or so) after a workout providing you've eaten because you recover when you sleep

Yes you should have eaten before you trained, then yes waiting a bit of time would work, thne train, then you're better off I feel.

Should you require to sleep afterwards then, you're not causing much of an issue, but just don't do it for a long time if you do.

Nappy time for me after every session, shake, eat, chill and snooze for a half hour or so. Sleep is soooo good.

I am Army and we run in the mourning every mourning 5-7 miles a day. I dont try to run no more than that. When I am off I do a lot of free weights. But I dont see how anybody goes to sleep after they run? We do this crap at 0630 every mourning and I cant go back to sleep after we are dont my mind and body are awake and moving. But any cardio you do only helps your health and if you can calm urself down to go to bed after by all means go ahead I would think it would keep ur metabolism running in hyper drive while you sleep. Which if your trying to lose weight is great!~!~ Anybody know if thats a proven fact or not if running at night keeps the metabolism running in hyper drive?? Question

I knew swanso would know the right answer.. Thanks for right answer. I couldnt tell no one it did or didnt. I never read it or heard about it. I know sprinting builds up endurance at least for me we do 30 60s here and there and it seems like the next time we run a good distance I can run alot harder than normal.

Nah, you need to stay in more. That stuff's on regular TV, not at the Gym or the Cinema Wink.

It's all drivel. It's stuff like, I was datin' a hunky, Bi-sexual Philippino boy, and then one day I came home, and I caught him in the yard, bonin' my dog Skeeter.

Now I can't trust him anymore.

You might have watched something like that before Wink
