I'm not sure what the difference is... I think a Chin Up is when your palms are facing you and the back of your hand is facing away from you. Pull up is the opposite?
If that is correct.. I have a hard time of doing "pull Ups" with the back of my hand facing me on the bar.
But I am under the impression that it's better for you if you want to work on your shoulders and back?
Which one is better? What's the difference? |

| Pull up has a different angle on the bar and your hands are farther apart. I think the pull up hits the back more as well, chins hit the biceps more. |

Wide grip chins (palms facing out) work the rhomboids and lower traps mainly while reverse chins, or pull ups or whatever you want to call them (palms in) work your lats, pecs and biceps (short head). A lot of people think that a wide grip chin adds width to the lats, but in fact, it is the opposite, a close grip pull-up adds width.
Both variations are good for developing overall upper body strength. |

i'd say chin ups get lower traps more as there is way more retraction at the top
both are great but you'll lift more doing chins |
