thanks to boss man Smile info on Low GI foods and all the info related to it just fasinated me. ive been researching info on it and or books or food lists that list low GI foods. the problem is.....most i have found have mainly foods from either Canada or Australia and not a whole lot of American brand foods. there are some basics but i see a LOT more from other countries.

does anyone know any sources or books dealing with glycemic index that is based more towards JUST the US foods? or any recamendations on a book, all around, this is good for this topic all together? thanks

Hi Amber!

Try this site: http://www.glycemicindex.com/

On it there is a link to books that you can look into.

Hope this helps!

Cassie :)

I mentioned Glycemic Load to you before, as one of the tools on my site calculates it Smile.

Glycemic Index should be the firts port of call, as without a GI number for a Carbohydrate you cannot adequately work GL, but GL is a better measure of things, so that should be stage two of working out a Bloodsugar response.

I also showed you how to work out combined GI for more than one Carb sourc,e and then calculate GL as a result Smile.

Definitely though, check a GI index first, as you need the figures to work out GL.
