Am just starting out on a fitness kick to get back in shape afte ra while of piling on weight due to injuries.
I wanted to start losing some excess fat ASAP, and wondered if Rowing machines or just plain running would be more beneficial for my cardio workout? I will most likely be doing some free weights as well to maintain (if not build) muscle mass and tone but it is more the cardio I am worried about as I am very out of condition now and need to ease into it....
Any advice welcomed! |

You can do rowing machine, but if you do things like Intervals, Sprints etc etc, it'll work out better for you, than just doing stuff you body can adapt too easily.
Also you might want to be looking at your diet, so depending on the times you eat, and types of food you eat, you may find you need to tweak or refine what you're doing. |

Cheers.
One of the things I wanted to do was a variety of stuff for this reason. Try and mix up the excercise i'm doing specifically to try and keep the body guessing but also to not get bored with repetitive excercises. Plus if I get my fitness back again then i'm going to try and get back into Rec Ice Hockey...
The food and drink are the first things to be changed
I have to admit if I cut out the beers, fried food etc then it will make so much difference, the problem has been motivation if i'm honest. Having had my injury, being quite down about everything and also recently moving jobs and moving to a different part of the country things have been a bit hectic to get into this. But I have made my mind up this has to be a change in lifestyle as well as looking for a better physique and fitness. Obviously there will still be nights out for a few beers and the odd cheat-day but those will now be the oddity rather than the norm. |

Hi there Scott!
Good job on taking the steps to adopt a more active, healthy lifestyle. I wish you luck in this endeavor. You are right... beer and junk food definitely need to be cut out of your diet. :) Cutting those might be a bit difficult at first but you will feel so much better without them in your daily diet.
Good luck!
