| ok so heres the deal, the majority of weight exercises i do - squats, deads, powercleans etc i can keep the rest between sets to 30 seconds but i cant really do this with the military press i seem to need 60 seconds and then im good to go. i mean i can manage it after 30 secs but my form starts to slip a little but that extra 30 secs gives me a big boost. so my question is is it ok to keep it at 60 secs as long as im upping the weight each week? |

| with 30 seconds rest between sets im assuming your going for hypertrophy...rest between sets for hypertrophy range anywhere from 30-90 seconds so i would say definitely! |

| why would you have 30secs rest btw deads, squats and power cleans anyway? the point is to lift maximal wt with those and you can't do that under fatigue |

| true dat...unless hes going for muscular endurance or hypertrophy...doing them without much rest can definitely increase the intensity of your workout...helps burn more calories too...but if gaining strength is your goal as swanso is assuming...hes right...ur not going to get strong very fast like that lol |

I would only have little rest if I was doing a sort of rest/pause program for fat burning.
I usually try to start another set after 60 seconds, depending on how I feel after 60 seconds I may take another 15-30 seconds before starting another set. |

| Well if you increase strength you will increase size if you are eating the correct amount. When was the last time you saw a small powerlifter? |

like i said 30-90 seconds
hypertrophy = increase muscle size
alot of people use a 1:1 ratio....same amount of time it takes you to do the work...you get that much time to break...so if your taking 30 seconds rest between 10 reps...make those 10 reps last 30 seconds...itll burn =) |

| with 30secs rest you'd barely be able to use 60% of your deads top wt and once you drop below 80% for a given lift, you're going backwards really...they also all require pefect technique to do them which you won't have under fatigue |

30 Seconds rest for circuits.
1 minutes rest between pair exercises,
1 minutes 20 if not pairing.
That's my rule.
Progressive overload over reducing rest time. |

| the exercise used will detirmine the rest...if i'm using a 3rn dead max for sets and a concentrate curl (god forbid) then which one will require the most rest??? |
