Ok so I have a picture f how I USED to look before I EVER got pregnant. I put on a bikini and took pictures as kind of a modivational tool. "look how freaking horrible you look, you don't want to be like this!!" kinda thing, well getting a good look made me realize my fear of losing weight, I'M GOING TO BE SAGGY and DROOPY. I feel like I am going to have "fat bastards" (Autsin Powers movie...) problem he had with his neck at the end of the movie but for me it'd be with my tummy! funny yes, but not exactly the kind of thing a single mom wants to deal with. I don't know how bad it really is going to be, I don't know if there is anything i can do to help it. I know I can't afford a tummy tuck so what the hell am I supposed to do!? Anyone have any advice or words of wisdom? PLEASE?! [/img] |

Hope you don't mind, but I checked your Myspace thingy, not ot be nosey, just to see if there was any other information that might assist me. Obviously you decided to keep it private, and I totally respect that, so no worries about that .
Well firstly can I congratulate you on your becoming a parent. You're only in your early 20's but I'm sure you'll be everythign a young child could need from a Mother .
Regards your worries abotu losing weight and getting saggy, I would think that largely depends on how much "baby weight", or additional fat weight, not attributed to baby, that you gained during pregnancy.
I can't see there being much of a problem, as most people get the figure back.
The main thing is whether you you have an Ectomorphic, Mesomorphic or Endomorphic type frame, the 1st meaning Fat storage is harder to get. The second means Fat storage is more easier, and Endomorphs store most of all.
This will impact on how you lose the weight, but it may well be a case of time and patience.
In the mean time, I'd say just basically stick to a mild weights and Cardio regime, and just keep calories in check. Obviously you might need some additional calories, depending on if little one is still on liquids, and if so, do you bottle or breast feed.
Of course we'll do what we can to help you, and you can come ask us anything anytime okay, so good luck and best wishes being Mum.
I'm sure you will be absolutely fine.
It's all about time, and just monitoring a few basics. I know I'm not an expert on pregnancy, I never will be, but that's my take on it anyway, if it helps at all |

Well, its all weight I've gained after having kids. My daughter is 4 and my son is almost 3. Went through divorce while and after I was pregnant with my son, and was under lots of stress, somehow got down to 125lbs. Now I'm at 155 and I'm only 5 ft! back in the day I was 100lbs (pre pregnancy that is) I'm just afraid if I loose even 40lbs I'll have extra skin. I feel like its become this losing battle. I'm too big to fit into any of my clothes, I get depressed about how I might look even if I do lose the weight, grrr.... this is so frustrating. I do know what to do but to stay motivated is the worst part. |

| if you plan out your food and exercise and think long term than you should be fine...you'll mostly get flabby skin when you lose wt quickly so go along slowly and you shouldn't have much if any |

I understand what you're saying, and I still maintain you're not going to have too much of problem.
Another thing to mention is that stress can cause increase Cortisol levels, one effect of which being, you can increase Abdominal Fat, so there's a slight chance, a little part of your weight gain in the past, could be down to that.
Plus Cortisol can break down Amino acids, which is not good especially for muscle retention, and internal physical functions, and physical maintenance, so it might be something to bear in mind.
You can lose the weight, and I believe you will, so try not to stress too much okay. I appreciate it must be really hard to be bringing up a small child, as a single parent, and you have my fullest and deepest empathy, and tonnes of admiration, and I hope you can find a way to be less emotionally fluctuating, for yours and your sons benefit.
You seem like a great person, and I'm sure a great Mother. I think he's a lucky little guy.
Good luck, and best wishes to you . |

Swanso is right that this mostly happens when weight is lost very quickly. Losing weight quickly is NOT a good idea. Not only is it bad for your health, but weight lost quickly is much more liekly to come right back. If you lose one pound a week it will be a healthy weight loss, it will be less liekly to come back, and it won't be very likely that you will have extra skin. If you do have any extra skin it will be minimal.
So don't worry so much about it. Focus on eating right and giving your body proper fuel, and working out regularly. Let me know if I can help.
