Evening all, you all seem suitably clued up and so I'm posting here in the hope that some kind souls will help me out.

A friend of mine is taking part in a competition for the first time ever soon. He's been working hard and I saw him for the first time yesterday in a few months and the improvements are vast. He truly has one of the best bodies I've ever seen (and I've seen many magnificent ones).

His weakness is the fact that he's a first-timer. He hasn't got a clue as to poses etc. To be honest I'm not sure he even knows the structure of a show. I only found this out yesterday. He doesn't have much time to sort himself out.

Now, I know about compulsory poses and the like, and that I can teach him. My problem (and his) is that I don't know what the judges are looking for. During the free posing routine, are they looking for grace/fluidity/uniqueness, what? Does anyone have any helpful hints, please?

I feel like this guy is my kid and I've come over all protective, I really want to see him do well. I know he's got the body, and he's left it late to learn the techniques but any info would be greatly appreciated Smile

a bitout of my league here as i'm no bodybuilder but if he is a forst timer than i would mainly focus on his symmetry...as for an actual posing routine your best bet is to talk to other competitors if you can although there's probably something on the net you can use...maybe try nicemuscle.com forum there a hardcore bunch over there and they might be able to help you although some of them can be assholes

I would strongly recommend that you hook him up with an experienced competitor to work on his routine. There are a lot of things the judges are looking for. His routine should engage the audience. And he needs to look like he's enjoying himself out there.

Does he have a peak week plan and all that set?
