you DO need to build the muscle up and lose fat from all over your body...use multi joint exercises with a wt that makes you PUFFED after 8 - 12 reps with as short a rest as you can but maintaining the wt in the 8 - 12 rep range

Aerobic exercise will burn fat over the entire body. You CANNOT spot reduce. To tone the muscles, lift less weight with more reps which promotes muscle endurance rather than strength.

Don't worry, your arms are not going to get big. It's much more difficult to build up big muscles than you would think. Focusing on eating right, doing cardiovascular exercse, as well as strength training will help you lose the fat from all over. There aren't any exercises that will simply reduce your arm fat.

Hope that helps!

What do you mean by tone? What's toning? I heard that you can't tone muscle by doing high repitition. Am I missing something?

tone is a bulshit word and doen't mean anything

muscle mass + little bodyfat = muscle definition (tone if you like)

if doing heaps of reps and endurance training is the key why aren't runners "toned"? because they don't have any muscle in the first place that's why

total lifting volume plays one of the most important parts in fat loss and definition programs but it still needs to be of a high intensity to maintain (at least) what muscle is already tgere...a prime example is 10 sets if 3 with a 5 - 6RM with 1min rest and drecreasing 5secs each sessions which places more demands on the muscle as you go along
