Hey everyone, im new to this site but i've been an on off exercise person for a long time. I never really know how to start and keep with something and i usually end up over doing it on my first few trys and giving up. Any advice would be really appreciated. I have asthma so i lose my breath a little easier although i heard i could grow out of that by doing exercise (which cuases the attacks so yeah. theres a paradox for you ). I'd like to be able not to use my inhaler everytime i start to move a lot. I'm used to moving fast b/c i work in a deli and i am running around everywhere but anything other than that makes my lungs work overtime. I usually dont eat the deli food b/c its all meat and cheese and im more of a veggi person. anyway, any advice you could give a newbie like me would be awesome. |

| I had exercise-induced asthma and it went away after I got into better shape. It can happen...you've just got to be patient and stick with it. And don't smoke ANYthing...that might seem like common sense, but there are a lot of folks who smoke recreationally and have to puff the inhaler at the same time. |

bellefairy,
I know you know but I must say it. Kick yourself in the butt and go for a walk as soon as you get home from work. Either that or cover the couch and chair with the laundry in the morning so you have to do it when you get home, lol.
Other insentives to help you choose the healthy way of life....
cut the cable, only shop the outside isles of the market and move it! Take a dance class, lift some weights, organise a ball game every saturday with your friends, or touch football, guys against the gals (its more fun that way lol). Take bike rides with a group of friends or a hike etc. With people to interact with excercise of any sort is fun and seems less like work!
Read the post Swanso suggested!

^_^ Thanks for the advice. Me and my BF actually came up with a rewards system for every 10 pounds we're able to lose. so far it's helping and we've forced ourselves to get up and out more. like i park at the end of parking lots now instead of finding the nearest space (unless its raining lol). You're right though, it really just takes kicking yourself in the rear to get movin. I've lost 7 pounds so far after finally being able to stick to stuff and i feel a lot better ^_^! Thanks for posting and for the advice. |
