Would appreciate any technique tips for power/speed/race walking?
Is the skill in the swing of the arms?
Is it in the step?
I currently do a 4km walk to work each morning and it takes me 30 minutes. I know I can and want to do better but can't seem to get my legs to go any faster. (a personal goal I have set is 5km in 30 minutes)Not into jogging, too hard on the knees.
What's the secret? I know it can be in the detail of the technique. |

| a good way to go faster is to run, there will come apoint where you just can;t walk any faster...probably more timing then a specific technique thing too |

Thanks swanso5 - understand what you are saying, but I need & am looking for some practices that I can put into action. I'm sure that there must be techniques or ways to increase efficiency in power walking, whether it be in the movement/momentum of the arms or legs/hips etc.
I feel as though I can still go faster just not sure what the key factors are. Not into running, too hard on the joints for me.
Appreciate any comments/tips you can provide me. |

I know it's a better workout if you hold hand weights and/or add ankle weights.
You want to keep all your momentum going forward, just like in running, so don't swing your arms side to side across your body...keep them going straight. |
