should i work on obliques?

will working on my obliques make me have a bigger waist, i'm just asking because now that i have started to workon them a little more i seem to have a wider waist and since my goal is the "v" shape i'm not sure that's the best thing to do....

You could do something like Side bends, but just don't use any weight, as it might thicken them up when you use weight.

i ahven't done obs for years and hardly ever really...do unweighted versions if you have to do them but hold the top of each rep x 2secs

Yes, my trainer told me this last week. I was surprised. I thought side-bends would shave off the inches. Confused

No, because you'd more than likely stimulate some growth.

Even people who have a little high bodyfat, but look slim, will look about the same if they don't go for size gains, as they will replace lost Fat with muscle, and look a bit tighter.

If you did them without weight you "might" get the disired result, but adding unnatural resistance from Weights will aslmost definitely bulk the muscles up.
