I have been working out for 3 weeks. I notice a difference in my body but the scale has not moved. My routine is 60 minutes of spinning 5/wk
and 30 minutes of strength training 5/6wk(joyce vedral- switching tapes every 2days)
My diet consists of 1600 calories following the zone with very little carbs.
Will this cause my body to go into starvation mode?
If lifting weights/cardio/diet what causes you not to lose fat what is being lost?
I'm overweight at 5'6 195 and I am very motivated to lose . I want to drop 25lbs by December. Any suggestions in my routine.
Ps addicted to the spinning class
Thanx for the input Wink

Hi there,
one possibility is that if you are brand new to weight training you may have gained a little muscle, which could be showing up on the scale. If that's the case, it's a good thing! That may be why you are noticing changes in your body.

You are exercising a LOT and eating fairly low calories. I think your calories may be too low. And eating very few carbs is not a good idea. Carbs are necessary for vital functions in our body, including the ability to use stored fat. Any weight lost on a very low carb diet is likely to come back as well.

I think you would be better off eating a balanced diet with lean proteins, complex carbs from natural sources, and small servings of good fats. Keep the spinning if you enjoy it so much, but I would substitute a couple of sessions with high intensity interval training.

Sarah
