Well i should clarify that, what I mean is that i need to do a routine that gives me energy and isn't too hard that i won't want to ever go to the gym again!
I'm 5'7 and almost 300 lbs so i have to be carefull i don't hurt my knees, and i carry most of my weight around my upper and lower tummy as well as my back, chest and arms...okay its all over i guess hehe, my outer thighs have muscle as do my calves but the inner thighs need some help
any suggestions?
I have a membership at the gym and i also have a yoga mat and some light free weights (less than 10) at home for when i don't have time to go the gym before class...
thanks for the suggestion im heading to the gym now, but i look forward to reading them when i get home |

Hi!
I am sure it is hard to stick to a program when you are overweight but you need to know that results take time. You should take exercising and eating healthy one day at a time. Soon you will start feeling energized and become more confident which will give you the drive to continue towards your goals.
I would consult a doctor before starting any work-out program.
In terms of work-outs: you need to continually challenge yourself. First start off walking, elliptical, and eventually jogging/running. Cardio, cardio, cardio! Can't stress it enough.
It is also important to strength train because obviously muscle burns more fat!
Once you start losing weight, get involved in classes. People are usually very supportive and more than willing to help you. Find classes that you are interested in such as kickboxing, pilates, step aerobics, etc.
Fitness is a lifestyle! Be proud of all the progress you make. Always set goals. Once you meet a big goal then reward yourself such as buying yourself a new shirt that you will look good in or treat yourself to a massage. These incentives will keep you going.
Eat clean! Drink water! I am not sure how your diet is but lots of vegetables, proteins, and healthy carbs/fats. Stay away from sugar! Little healthy snacks throughout the day. Have one cheat day! Not meaning you eat anything you want but if you would like something small, go for it.
I can try and help more if you give me more specifics about your eating habits and how your workouts are coming along.
I must say I am not a fitness instructor but do exercise avidly five-six times a week for usually 2 hours a day. I do classes and workout regularly with my boyfriend who is also very fit. I eat healthy and surround my life with fitness and nutrition. So if I can help at all, let me know! |

Though it should be stressed we appreciate your help, Pf529, and for joining the site, so just incase you take the above comment out of context, and think it's a broadside at you, I'm sure it isn't.
Good to have you here. |

Don't worry, I'm not offended.
Anyways the advice I give is pretty basic and just based upon personal experience.
