Hi my name is Larry, im 32 years old, and I've never really made a new years resolution but this year I want to get back into shape so I can enjoy playing with my children more and I hope it will make my wife happier also.
So I talked to some friends who had recently lost some weight and after listening to their advice I bought a Bowflex, the book “The Bowflex Body Plan”, and a multivitamin and appetite suppressant from NuBody Supplements. I hope with all these things I can loose at least 20 lbs by summer.
I'm going to keep track of my process on here to try and keep myself honest, and I would like any tips or advice anyone can offer.
Thanks in advance
Larry
I am about 6'4 245 lbs, I want to get down to at least 220, maybe I will want to go lower when I get there.
Heres my routine:

or
Whole Grain Bagel w/ peanut butter
1 cup OJ
Water
1 NuBody multivitamin
1 NuBody appetite suppressant
Snack:
~200 cals
2 of these:
banana, apple, ½ cantaloupe, 5 dried prunes, 1oz raisins, 1 cup light yogurt
Lunch:
~300 cals
sandwich (2 slices whole-wheat bread, 1 tab mustard, 2 oz white chicken)
Water
1 NuBody multivitamin
Snack:
~200 cals
Same as above
Dinner:
~500 cals
tuna salad, 3 oz lean steak, or 6 oz which chicken
½ cup peas
½ cup sliced beets
2 slices whole-wheat bread
water
1 NuBody multivitamin
1 NuBody appetite suppressant
Snack:
~200 cals
same as above
For my workout I'm starting with:
Leg Curl
Leg Extension
Bench Press
Standing Biceps Curl
Seated Shoulder Press
Seated Abdominal Crunch |

I'll be brief here.
My site has an article about New years resolutions, it's the only open-house piece I written, so no registration required.
However for my views on Fat Burners, Appetite suppressants etc etc, Supplement section is registered only.
My views might clash with what is promoted, or mentioned on the main domain for this board, hence why I keep such views off here.
Also Bowflex are mostly rubbish. Never heard anything good about them at all.
The main things I think you need for weight training at home are thus.
A. 2 small hand held Bars.
B. 1 Barbell.
Both with locking collars, for adding weights on. Can be bought seperately like discs, but probably cheaper to buy them in a complete kit, then buy additional weight as and when needed.
C. Bench, inclined backrest is better, and some struts ether side to put the bar on. You can also buy ones with a little Leg extension contraption on the front, but you wouldn't need that.
D. Squat Rack.
E. Maybe a Swiss Ball.
Those are your basics, so you shouldn't need anything else really.
Most home gyms are poor anyway, and remember some mucles are bigger than others, so some muscle would get good stimulas at a certain weight level, others only average stimulus, and Home gyms, are more difficult to store, so you need good space, and if you get things like a damaged Cable, you only get half the multi gym to work, unless you get a replacment, or have it fixed.
My weight discs stack up in nice neat piles, well reasonably neat , and the Barbell tucks under the bed.
I believe Bowflex is possibly Cable free, can't remember exactly, but most reviews I've heard are, it's good for women looking for about 1/2" of muscle.
As for diet, all I'm going to say for now is, Multivits, stick to about 1/2 a day, not two.
Vitamins A, D, E, and K can become toxic at high enough levels.
A in high doses, results in a condition called Vitaminosis, not sure if the others do, or whether it's a different name used for them, and some Minerals can compete at high enough levels, possibly leading to a mineral deficiency, in a mineral competing with another mineral, the body presumably would deem more necessary. |

FAT LOSS RULE NUMBER 1 LARRY - DON'T SUPPRESS APPETITE...YOU PROBABLY PUT ON WT FROM LACK OF ACTIVITY, NOT EATING TOO MUCH (WELL MAYBE TOO MUCH SHIT0 BUT NOT TOO MANY OVERALL CALORIES AS MOST PEOPLE UNDEREAT BUT HAVE BIG MEALS
now that the caps lock is off...
- never been on a bowflex so i'm not sure what you can / can't do on it but only do exercises thet use at least 2 joints...leg extentions use 1 (knee) where a chest press will use 2 (shoulder and elbow)...you'd be better off doing lunges and squats by yourself than ext and curls for legs on the bowlfex unless you can do them on it
- what is the fascination with bagels? they are not good people...instead add fruit (eating first) than egg omlete...drop suppreasant
- fruit and solid protein for meal 2 with multi...it's better tio have multi at meal 2 so it doesn't get used for replenishmnet from overnight fasting
- only need 1 multi, if you need 2 then eat more veggies
- meal 4 solid protien, veg and salad
- no bread with dinner, no multi, no suppressant...it's funny you have the suppressant after you eat too??? is that what they prescribed? doesn' make any sense
- solid protein and veg/salad for last meal |

Typically I think this way of approaching fitness is wrong-headed. Losing weight fast is not as important as finding a lifestyle that will allow you to reach and maintain an ideal body weight. |
