Hi, Im sticking to a healthy diet and excercizing as much asI can (sometimes i miss a workout due to school/comission workloads)
I usually eat about 4-6 small meals, breakfast is usually an eggwhite omlette then my snack is usually an apple or protein bar then lunch is a turkey wrap or salad and if i do weight training my other snack is a protien shake (after workout) then a high protein dinner with greens.
I do regular ab excersizes and freeweights about every other day
And i do 40-55 mins of cardio a day (elliptical, taebo, tredmill)
DESPITE all that i still have not lost much fat although i have gained a lot of muscle under it (which seems to be genetic to gain muscle easily in my family) Is it possible my depo shot could be causing the slow loss? I AM losing, just very slowly. And if there is anything extra workout or diet wise i could be doing it would be greatly appreciated to know =] |

If you're weight training then you don't need 45-55 mins cardio a day, it's potentially overkill.
Also what's the meals like time wise? Just to eliminate any space issues between meals. |

Did you just strat having trouble losing weight when you started on birth control? You may want to talk to your doc if that's the case. There are a lot of types of birth control, and you can probably try different ones to find one that won't cause weight gain for you. I'm lucky, mine never caused me to gain an ounce.
Also, honestly it looks from your diet like you might be undereating for your activity level. |

| It might be that i don't eat enough but from most diet clacs i have used they say to eat 2100 to maintain weight and reduce by 500 incriments to lose weight so i eat roughly 1400-1600 a day.And when i was on birthcontrol was when i became active. And in the begining i lost fairly normally about a pound a week till i lost 20 lbs and now im trying to lose the final 10 lbs and it seems like its a lot slower now (i don't know if its effected by my birthcontrol) and i seemed to have plateued a little even though recently i have been losing a little again and i was to lose those final 10-15 by june. |

Meals: breakfast 6:45- eggwhite omlete with light yoplat yogurt and skim milk
snack 9:45- fuji apple, banana, or protein bar
Lunch 12:45- spinach salad with smoked almonds or turkey wrap fruit and milk
2nd snack 3:45- wt days a protein shake (after workout) or reg days veggie soup with toast or a wholegrain pasta with organic sauce
dinner 7:00- some sort of chicken turkey or shrimp with greens, tomato, and onion and other veggies usually cooked in extra virgin olive oil
For a cardio workout i usually do cardio around 4pm for 30mins then at night for another 25 mins on weekdays and weekends i do 20 mins of HIIT cardio on a tredmil then at night do 30 mins more cardio on elliptical or tredmil sometimes taebo. For wt routines i do 30 mins every other day i do arms and shoulders and abs then the next time i do back chest legs and abs. |

Hi,
It could be the birth control. The way birth control works is that it tricks your body into thinking it's pregnant. And if your body thinks it's pregnant it may want to hang onto some excess weight. It doesn't mean you can't lose the weight it'll just make losing it a little bit harder but it can be done.
Good Luck. |

- add fruit to breakfast
- no prtoein bars but add solid preotein soure to fruit for morning snack
- no fruit needed with lunch, just solid protein and veg/salad
- no simple carbs needed on off days in afternoon but always after a workout
- maybe need a light solid protein/veg snack before bed...definatley if you go to bed hugry...don't worry eating these won't make you fat, eating simple at night will though
- too much cardio...cut to 3/week x 20mins alternating 1min easy as you can with 1min as hard as you can...any longer than 20mins and yourt not actally going "as fast as you can" and you should be lucky to reach 20mins
- for wts search The Waterbury Method by Chad Waterbury and do as written
- ab routines could not do any less for you |

| This is so funny because I am going through the same thing. I am cutting down (dieting) and lifting/doing cardio consistently 5-6 days a week and I noticed that I haven't been losing the weight as quickly as when I WASN'T on birth control. So I went on google to see if there was some connection to slow weight loss progression and birth control and I found this thread! (Oh and by the way, Im on depo too). I guess I'll ask my doctor on my next visit... |
