Hi there guys. I am an 18 year old, and its come to that time where I cant deal with being fat/overweight anymore. It's been about over a month now since I started losing weight. My exercise consists of running on the treadmill for 40 minutes 5 times a week, early in the morning after I wake up. I am 5ft 11 and weigh 198lbs. In the past month i've lost 13-14lbs and I was quite happy. I have noticed a bit of difference over the month. My calorie intake is spread out to about 1400-1500 calories per day. My question is, will i lose weight all over the body by carrying on this routine? My thighs are quite big and I haven't seen much of a difference in that area, although they do seem a bit lighter. I can see in the mirror my stomach is slowly going in, and my face is becoming more thin and arms are becoming smaller too. I aim to get to 175lbs ( 12.5 stone) and once I reach this weight I want to tone up and get a strong solid six pack. Am I going in the right direction? I'm also eating fruit more or less everyday and lots of water. Any advice will be appreciated.

no ...

First, you're not eating enough, eat every 3hours, solid proteins + veggies or fruits in the morning. Reach at least 2200 calories, or you will starve, and kill your metabolism

Second, cardio is shit compare to weights training for fat lost, here is the "fat lost" list :

Diet
Deadlifts
Diet
Squat
Diet
Sprints (Example, take an "empty" road, run as fast as you can on 50-100m walk back then start again 5 time, that's a nice one to start)
Diet
Compounds moves
Rest
CONSTANCY

Third, Congrats on weight lost even if many of these lost pounds were muscle ...

Fourth, macro nutriment breakdown, reach 1g of protein every pound your weight and then the rest of your calories should come from complex carbs and healthy fats

Fifth, don't be afraid of fat, don't cut it, cut simple and refined carbs.

Sixth, try the waterbury methods (Search for it) for your workout, works great.

Seventh, the only time you have the right to eat simple/refined carbs is upon waking up and straight after workout. Same thing for liquid proteins (protein shake) only after training ! And you must have a shake after training or the risk to go in a catabolism state is high and you will screw a part of your hard work.

For other questions feel free to ask

oh and for "hard sexy hell rockin' six pack abs" list :

Diet
Deadlifts
Diet
Squat
Diet
Sprints (Example, take an "empty" road, run as fast as you can on 50-100m walk back then start again 5 time, that's a nice one to start)
Diet
Compounds moves
Rest
CONSTANCY

I don't think he meant to appear rude, just the subtle differences between the spoken and written word.

Yes, you have definitely been doing something wrong, it's not healthy for you if you're currently 198 lb's, to have lost 13-14 in one month, that's too much.

As you were obviously about 212 lb's, you should if you felt a bit chubby have been aiming for 2lbs a week. Not ragging on you, you probably wouldn't have known things like this when you started, and that's okay as people have to start a learning process somewhere. The weight loss you achieved is something that would be a healthier amount, for males probably 250 - 300lbs+, as it could be managed so that it was pure Fat.

In your case you may have sacrificed muscle mass too, when you're effectively losing about 3.5lbs a week, because for some people of a certain weight, as explained above, that can be a healthy weight loss figure when done right, with just Fat, as Fat loss alone is possible upto about 4lbs a week, but in your case you'd have only needed to shed about 2lbs a week, seeing as you've been at it for one month, and now weigh 198lb's

I'd suggest the message by Cristopheel, as a source for what you need to be addressing / looking at, but also post your meals and meal times, so we can take looksee and identify changes, that might stop you losing too quickly.

Remember cutting Fat too much, can sometimes create a calorie deficeit, where the body needs more but doesn't get them. This creates a starvation mode, causing Fat stores to be less easily removed, and coupled with muscle loss, you could actually add bits of Fat back on.

In this case, you're clearly not doing that, unless you're losing an amount of Fat and Muscle higher than 14lbs in one month, and the Muscle has triggered some Fat storage again, cutting the overall weight loss figure.

The problem can also occur that the body craves Fats, if you cut too much, and also can reduce satiety after meals, and can make you feel hungry prematurely, and unless you just reduce things like Butter on Potatos, Toast, Corn Cobs etc etc, pure Fat reductions from the diet are very often not possible, without replacing fatty meal options with meals, that also provide less Protein and Carbs too, and often those lost P and C calories, are not adequately replaced if at all.

You don't want to be someone who thinks 2OZ of Salmon, and a small portion of Beans, constitutes an effective Dinner, and a piece of Fruit makes a well balanced snack, as that's a fairly common pitfall for people in your situation to get into.

You definitely need to be adding calories back in as mentioned earlier, but your meals and meal times, will elude as to where and how this might happen.

So don't be too concerned right now. You can get things back on a more manageable track, and give your insides a better overall state of being, and make this weight loss journey count more in your favour.

sorry christpohel think you mis-understood me I didn't say you sounded rude Smile

Well Boss Man, it was approximately a month, I was actually losing 2-3 lbs a week, nothing more, I may have given some false information, weighed myself today and i was 14st 2lbs, when i started I was 14st 12 lb, so infact i've only lost 10lbs in over a month.

Breakfast(7-7.30):
Tea/Coffee with sugar, and a nutri grain bar sometimes

Lunch(12-1): Packet of crisps + water/ribena

(3-5) fruits, water

(7-Cool dinner - about 500-600 calories here

- i eat the much in one meal and i'm 72kgs
- i don't understand why people say "i wanna lose this fat then tone up"...it doesn't make sense...you can't "tone", tone is muscle mass with little bodyfat and without one or both you have no "tone"..in that case why don't we build some muscle now which also burns more fat so you'll reach your wt loss goal better and it will also allow you to eat more because you have to to recover from wt workouts
- chris stop stealing my anwers too
