Hi guys

Yesterday, I met a guy who acted in some local films in SA. He was at a friends place when I visited, I did recognise him from the TV but my problem is I just don't do celebrities. I pretended that I've never seen his face in my life. Now, your opinion, Was I being meen, or is it normal for other people too? My friend says the guy must have been very disappointed with my actions.

Please be honest!!!! Brutally Honest if you have to, cuz this is not the first time this happen. I JUST DON'T DO CELEBRITIES...

I have seen a few in my time though mostly minor. Usually it is when the person is out and about with their family for example, in which case I just leave them alone.

I tend to think that someone like that is only famous to any degree, when they are working, or doing charity / social commitments, and when they're not doing those things, they're just regular people.

I don't do the "oh my god you're xyz" kind of stuff, as that's just a bit too much, and some people do adjulation wrongly.

A true story I know about, involving someone I won't name, who was in a musical trio way back in the 60's, but he's been off the scene for a long time now, and he went into a shop once, and another guy comes in and recognised this former musician, from about 30 years previous, and was just fawning all over him, and everyone in there just kind of felt embarrassed, that this guy was being so over friendly, and kissy assed.

I've kind of met one or two before, and usually if they've said anything to me, I just talk to them like normal people, but if I've seen one waiting to cross the road, or walk past me for example, I don't stop to engage them, as they're just doing their own thing, so I let them get on with it.

I might sometiimes tell people, hay so and so walked past me in the street, earlier or a few days ago, but that's about it.

Best thing to have probably done in your situation, was either wait for him to walk over and talk to you, (if he was going to), then act like he was just some regular guy, or wait for someone else to introduce you, and do likewise, but don't necessarily ask about his TV work, unless he brought it up first, so you know that if he's comfotable discussing it like that, he'll make that choice, if not then you don't put your foot in it, asking about it, if he's someone that doesn't really "do" work outside of work.
