Hello, New to the site...

I am a fitness advocate I love working out and improoving my game. However I got stuck in a self pitty rut, and am finding it really hard to get out of...

What did it take for those of you who have lost signifagant amounts of weight, and who have reached fitness goals; to say "Today is the day!, With no more b.s." Day after day I tell myself to limit the sweets, and time after time I cave.

My question or topic is: How to know when your ready...Question

I think I'm ready, but still fail myself.. Sad

Unfortunately, back in high school it took something as serious as my dad being diagnosed with prostate cancer to put things in perspective. Day to day you don't realize it, but bad eating habits and belly fat over decades increases your risk of all things deadly. I'd imagine the emotional highs and lows that come with a shaky diet aren't too great for you either.

Try writing down what you eat (right before you're about to eat it if possible) and your workout habits day 1 and keep a log. It forced me to become a little extra conscious...and after a few weeks looking in the log seeing healthy habits along with great results in the mirror was really all the reinforcement needed.

I guess the other big thing for me was fruit. Grapes, clementines, mangoes, and pineapples satisfied my sweet tooth and cake and ice cream became less appealing.

Change your goals.
Instead of always thinking "fat loss" start thinking performance.
Did you run further or faster, did you throw further, did you jump higher or did you lift more today than yesterday? Last week? Last month?
Too many people get caught up in the fat loss game and the numbers on the scale. Our bodies are always in a state of flux anyways, no matter what size you wear.
If you perform better today than yesterday, the weight goals will take care of themselves.

Hey thank you, you make some good points. I've become obsessed with my size and numbers...

I guess my plan of attack is to keep and maintain a supportive diet. To put in text your diet contributes 70% to your over-all perfomance. Thats huge, right?

Just a side note, I started this new progressive workout reg. and... I'm Kicken My Butt Smile

- the more pressure you oput oin yourself the more chance you'll fail so if you have a blowout dont worry about it and just get straight back on track...as long as 90% of your training and eating plans are followed, the "bad'' 10% wont matter.
