im hoping to get a women PT to help me out but im sure the guys might like this question. Smile

alrighty..how do i ask this as nicely and to the point without getting laughed at...Smile LOL to late... im laughing at myself so let me try anyways...

ok, im trying to look and judge the amount of fat that could be in my body. yes i know it can be EVERYWHERE and frankly i do notice the places its at that id like to make go away. and i have been doing good training and diet. but....on the account of where fat can be in your body...for WOMEN....how much of it do you think could reside in your breasts? personally? im comfortable with my weight and height being 21 but i do see and want the fat loss i gained from surgerys and sitting on my butt for a few years trying to deal with it all. but....ever since like 10th grade up till now....i am fully bloomed and not many girls my age have these twins. Smile sooo...im wondering if they could make up a good portion of the fat percent? ive wanted a reduction but im finding and noticing, with the exercises i do, they are getting more toned and i heared once they could shrink on there own if you do the right exercise. so does anyone know for a women, how much percent of fat could possibly make up her breasts?

sorry for the novel Smile

I guess it really depends on the size of the twins, doesn't it.
Don't worry about that too much, they are usually the first to go anyways.
There is no such thing as spot reducing, where you carry fat is genetically determined, i.e pear shaped, apple shaped, and also determined by diet and insulin sensitivity. Breast size will be influenced by BF, but shape and size is mostly genetic.
Instead of worrying about a specific BF percentage, gauge your progress in a full length mirror in bright lights. Also take pics monthly, changes are hard to notice on a day by day basis.
As you lose fat, the girls will shrink down some. Measure those changes by cup size, as added muscle and width to your back may increase the bra size. And go get fitted for a good bra and a good bra for training in. Makes all the difference in the world. Something like 90% of women wear the wrong bra size.

the reason im getting at is bc altho my fat % is in my age/weight/height range or whatnot....its still on the high end of it. but bc of the twins, im wondering if its high mainly due to the fact i got them?

the main reason i wanted a reduction in the first place is trying to find a 32D bra is NOT fun LOL...i will and should be fitted more properly but i know im only like 29.5 inches around just below the girls. so when it comes to the gym...i wear both a real one and a sports bra.

finding clothes is the big issue which im actually getting fond of the maternity section with some places Smile not bc im pregnant...but bc the clothes(shirts and tanks) are made a bit differently since most pregnant women gain the twins for a while so they make clothes that cover them all Smile i still get like smalls or extra smalls since i dont have no belly haha but its why im also wondering about any particular machine or exercise i could use that would benfit the help to shrink them? i go to a good gym that has a lot of the machines listed here on this site but i also have dumbbells and a balance ball, if wanted to mention other options. ill take what i can get. :
) thanks

Hi there!

I think the only way to actually shrink you breasts is to lose fat all over... they should shrink a bit with fat loss. I heard once that women tend to lose fat from their breasts first with fat loss (and gain it first around their hips with fat gain). I'm not sure how true that is but I've heard it a couple of times. I recently lost around 20 pounds and went down a full bra size with the weight loss.

While you can't "spot reduce" to lose fat specifically in your chest area there are lots of great exercises that work the pec muscles. My favorites are incline/decline/flat pushups, flat/incline/decline bench and dumbell flies. If youre wanting to lose fat and/or tone up you might try a total body workout 3 days a week incorporating some of the above mentioned exercises with stuff like lunges, deadlifts, squats, dips, and rows variations.

I hope this helps!

The breasts are comprised mainly of fat. Are you saying that you got your body fat tested, and it's on the high end of normal? Sorry if I misunderstood. Unless you got your BF tested by underwater weighing, there is a margin of error with those tests, so don't worry too much about the number. It's just an estimate.

And yes the others are right that if you lose fat, you will lose it from everywhere, including the breasts.

thanks for the replys!!

cassie- yeah i think its mainly a time thing....i have to give it a bit more time. ive only started this serious workouts for the past month. gym at least four days a week and at least two of possily free weights depending on what my body is say...but when at the gym its a good 2 hour workout with cardio and full body weight training with machines. im just trying to eat right also.

sarah- i use a scale that weighs you and also messures body fat and body water. i am wondering tho why it will say like 27 % fat in the mornings but then after a good workout it will say as low as 21% fat. i wish it said 21 all the time LOL. i have lost ten pounds since jan this year but i think its mostly due to surgeries and how i wouldnt eat for a few days after a few of them. at least not alot. so i have noticed when you skip enough meals....your body eats your fat lol...no i dont skip meals but when surgery comes...im to out of it to eat let alone hungry or able to keep food down. so it happens then Smile i am trying to watch calories tho.

in the end i think its just time but was curious about the issue here cus yes i read somewhere in my age and height rang it was like 21-28% body fat and im at 27.5 so wasnt sure if the twins were a large part of why its higher Smile i am a tad thicker (not skin and bones looking) but im not fat either. i blame my twins and my butt for it LOL...:)but like someone mentioned...i guess thats just genetic Smile

if you have big boobs naturally then as long as your happy with the rest of your body and how it looks then the actual bf% figure shouldn't matter...i'm not a big fan of someone saying "ï want to get down to x % bodyfat..." because what if you look best at a higher fiugure???

so basically if you think you need to lose more fat then do so...the twins will shrink as they are fat but you may lose more fat from there then say yout hips if they are the problem your trying to fix

i can't actually say what i'm trying to say really....

yes, they are natural. i just bloomed later in life. i dont have an issue with my weight but after readings i know i have more body fat then muscle. its really close tho, a few pound difference but im just trying to figure out if there is any way to know or messure the fact the twins make up most of it. or maybe like five or so pounds of fat lol. idk im just wondering if anyone knew that assumption to how much fat could possibly be stored there. im just trying to burn off the layer of fat so more muscle shows through.

If you have a caliper fat test done and compare it to the scale, perhaps you would have better information to go by. A trainer at your local gym should be able to help you with this.

Cheers

So I've been reading your posts again I think I'm a little confused. Are you thinking that your body fat is being calculated higher because of your breasts? If so... and you're wanting a fairly accurate measure of your body fat you should have a fat caliper test done. This measures your body fat by pinching different areas of your body (often the leg, arm, and hip areas) and uses a formula to calculate your estimated body fat. You might give this a try (like vamp suggested) to see what the results are. I would think that because this test doesn't measure your breast fat it might give you an estimate of how much fat you have on the other parts of your body. I'm not sure if that was what youre trying ot figure out but you might give that a try. At the very least it might give you a better idea of your body fat percentage as you could compare it to what your scale is saying.

Just a thought... I hope this helps. :)

I was really confused also about my body fat / its 16%/ and i have bigger breasts than u-its natural! Also you are 1 cm higher than me and -1 kg! Rolling Eyes So i can see that everything is personal. As i can see your breasts are ok, may be the fat is in other point! For example i try loose "love handles" but it's soo difficult! The most easy point loose fat is from breasts! Wink dont worry about that... Wink

thanks cassie i do need to try this and that is pretty much exactly what im going after...how much fat is there...NOT counting the breasts. Smile and yes des lol love handles are HARD to loose! im starting to even out and not so hour glass figured but i have another question for you gals......

has anyone on here ever had a reduction? or dealing with posture....is it something you just "practice"? or could seriously having large breasts be a big factor in bad posture? now my back is affecting me. and yes i wanna blame the twins for it Smile but ive heard good posture envolves practice....is this true?

There is a case in point that the "twins" as you call them, may be a potential factor in postural issues, if they are too big, as you will potentially have more Torso weight at the front than the back.

However if you are able to correct or learn, any postural changes to how you sit and walk, then the issue of whether you have an issue with the "twins", could be negated.

I certainly don't believe you need to consider things like a reduction.

If you think a reduction is necessary run it by your doctor, but I would doubt it is. Good posture does require some practice, and also strong core muscles help.
