i like to distinguish "conditioining" like this:
aerobic fitness: the ability to do a low to moderate intensity activities for a long duration (jogging etc)
work capacity: the ability to perform moderate to high intensity activities for moderate to long duration
with your mild asthma i would go for increasing work capacity which is where most people are lacking anyway...farner and tradesman work capacities are high as they mix up varying intense activities through the day such as throwing hay, bricks and such around...they don't do it continuously but in spurts...hybrid / combo exercises are good for this such as ladders (e.g. push up x 1, sprint 15 meters, push up x 2, sprint 15 up to 10 push ups and then you can go back down to 1 if you want), sandbag lift and carry's and things like that...maybe search strongman training for more ideas...joe defranco has a good article on it which should come up there |
