well ive been working out and eating right for the past 1.5 months and managed to lose about 10 pounds. just purchased an 80lb punching bag hoping it might help with cardio (also using it to relieve stress and anger). can this take the place of running every other day or should i do a little of both?

any advice is greatly appreciated!!

If you run about 5 times a week, you could keep the running 3x, and the Boxing 2x. I do boxing style stuff sometimes, and the Cardio is good, especially things like Skipping, but sometimes, it's often stop start stuff, when you train yourself. You just can't try to skip virtually for 30 minutes in a row, or punch 30 minutes in a row, especially as Punching probably uses additional energy, from the Explosive Fast Twitch Fibre use, and may well wear you out faster.

However Boxing stuff can incorporate lots of Step stuff, and other things, so it is flexible, and can be changed a lot, when you want to.

thanks. today i did 5-5 minute rounds with 1 minute of rest between rounds. the breaks were spent doing other exercises like russian twists or push ups. i'll probably start skipping as a warm up and cool down as soon as i can get a new rope. maybe running after doing weights every other day or is that to much cardio?

i would maybe cut back to 2 cardio days depending on how many wt sessions you're doing...5 total sessions a week anyway is enough for now...if you're losing wt with 3 sessions, why do 6?? once you stall what do you do, 7, 8, than 9 sessions a week???? just something to think about...quality over quantity
