coupled with other modes yes...woodn't rely on it so much by itself but a very good choice non the less if hitting hard enough...probably best done in short bursts such as starting at 5 x 1min intervals with 1min rest and increasing each interval 10secs each session or so...something like that...not a boxer so woodn't no really...found this in my archives though:

Boxing Circuits
• Don’t do active recovery…3mins on 1 off…all ab and push ups are done after a round of boxing…if you desire a longer workout add more skipping at the start and push ups at the end…learn the fundamentals first such as stance, hand/arm position, punching (jab, rear straight cross, lead hook)and shadow boxing…for a home workout you’ll need some 14 ounce boxing gloves, wrist straps, egg timer, jump rope, 100pd bag…short program x 31mins – skip x 3mins, jog on spot x 1, starjumps / squats / stretch x 20secs each for 3mins, jog x 1, shadow box x 3 alternating geing your own trainer by looking mirror and emphasising technique with sticking and moving against an imaginary opponent for 90secs each, jog x 1, heavy bag x 3, 1min working on jab, hook and uppercut, 2mins x throw combos (every 30secs throw a flurry of punches x 5secs), jog x 1, heavy bag x 2 using all combos and punches, jog x 1, heavy bag x 3 same as before, jog x 1, skip x 3, jog x 1, shadow box x 3 working jab, jog x 1, stretch x 3…long program – add these onto last session…alternate abs and push ups x 3 doing crunch, push up, bicycle, push up, jacknife, push up all x F, jog x 1, skip x 3, jog x 1, sprint on spot x 3, jog x 1, stretch x 3

have a read and let me no wat u think although i haven't read it since i types it probably a yr ago
