| Do protein drinks really work? I am naturally skinny and I can eat all day if I want and won't gain weight. Which sucks 'cause even lifting doesn't help me bulk up. I know protein supposed to help build and keep muscles. So, I was thinking of buying protein drinks and this forum has been more than helpful to me before so I wanted to ask here before I do it. Also, my job is lifting stuff all night (3rd shift) So, I was wondering what would be the best time limit I should keep my lifting so, I don't over work myself since the only time I can lift is before work. Thanks. |

Keep your weights to about 45-60 minutes.
Protein shakes are fine, but don't overindulge in them.
They work better after workouts, and if you buy one, make sure it's got something in it like Maltodextrin, so you get a Bloodsugar spike, and you increase uptake of the nutrients in the shake.

Hey Bossman, is it ok to do the shake before the workout and hit other protein after. (since I do my lifting in morning. 6:00 AM before work, I drink a shake on the way to gym. Its the only thing I drink or eat before workout since I don't want to get up earlier than I have too..lol)

Yes, a shake before could be beneficial. The other alternative is to Snarf down a pot of Yoghurt. It's less solid than most food sources, so it should breakdown faster.
You could use a Fruit one, to boost Carbs. |
