Can you work out your abs everyday and still see results or is that over training them?

Differing theories.

Some say every day, some say 3-4 times a week, some do a massive session once a week.

Abs are very small so recovery time should be swift, though that doesn't mean you can hammer Abs daily, and expect to get away with it.

Also any celebrities telling you they get washboard Abs, doing 300 Crunches a day, are probably full of crap, even if they do eat loads of Salads, and Skinless Chicken etc etc, to help shed Abdominal Fat layers, and make them visable.

I would stick to a limited regime. So if you work Abs, do something really intense for say 10 reps, then do 2-3 sets, and leave it at that.

Keeping breaks between sets to about 5-10 seconds.

Give them at least 48 hours in between each workout to rest and recover, just like any other muscle. More is not necessarily better. Quality over quantity is better for success. Smile

So when you say this you mean, doing 300 or more is too much strain on your abs. I do 600 crunches a day, with different variations and so far they llok goo. Although are you saying it is too much?

Cardio for abbs is the only way. You can do 5000 sit ups a day if you don't do cardio you won't see your abbs.

Well I don't doubt your Abs look good Brawler, but 600 Crunches a day, may not be strictly necessary.

I'm not saying you're wrong to do that, but in general I wouldn't advocate a person needs to do that, to get results.

I think if Abs are done correctly, something like 3 sets of 20 reps, 3 times a week, might be all that's needed, depending on exercises used.
