|
|
Hello,
I am 5'1" and currently overweight at 125 pounds, mostly in my belly. Even at my thinnest, I still have a tummy. Besides decreasing body fat, what exercises can help me:
a. define my obliques
b. take the roundness out of my tummy (in front).
One additional theory: Could the shape of my pelvis (think posture) also have something to do with my tummy protusion? |

hanging knee raises are your best bet if you can do them...if not just hold the top position for time...make sure your feet are out further from your body than your knees, not tucked under your ass/hamstrings

does your ass stich up to the roof from the back? if your a chick than it probably does to some degree which tightness in the hip flexors, quads and overactive tfl/itb bands as well as weak abs...weak abs will also make your stomach "fall out" as the muscles aren't working aas they should be to hold it in...think pilates type exercises such as pelvic tilts and ab isolations for this |

| I would also recommend stomach vacuums. They work primarily the transverse abdominis. The transverse abdominis is the depest muscle in the abdominal region and is located just under the internal oblique muscle. Though you cannot seen the tranverse abdominis, it acts as a "corset" to help hold your stomach flat and aid with pelvic stability. |

Thanks a lot for the replies.
Yes, I am a female.
As far as the pelvis my spine has a noticeable curve inwards above my butt, which I think pushes my tummy out. I will try hip flexor exercises and stability ball crunches.
Stomach vacuums--I read instructions on bodybuilding.com and they said you needed really low body fat percentage for it to work. Can I do them at this point? |
