Aloha! I'm getting married in Maui, Hawaii next summer and want to tone up before then. I used to weigh 250lbs but lost over eighty pounds. The problem is this has left me very loose and saggy and I want to tighten up before the wedding. Well, I've wanted to do it anyway but now it's like I've got a time limit!
Can anyone recomend a training program? Or a personal trainer? I need to work on all over, not just any one particular area. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'd like to have the confidence to wear a two piece on my honeymoon and I have 16months so I should be able to firm up a bit in that amount of time Razz

answer:

what training have you done before?

what do you access to equipment wise?

what do you see yourself eating (post a sample meal by meal plan)?

do you have any restrictions (injuries, allergies etc)?

anything else we may need to know?

Hi - thanks for answering.
I have never done any specific training before. I have belonged to a gym and I used the treadmill, elliptical machine/ski machine and recline cycle. I just did my own thing and didn’t have professional help. (Pretty silly of me, I guess) Now, instead of the gym I walk in and out of work. This equals two and a half hours, five days a week of moderate to brisk activity and I lost nearly 30lbs in two months.
As I am no longer with the gym I don’t have access to any equipment. I don’t know whether to join a gym again or go to classes. If I were to go to a personal trainer and he/she told me I should really be using weights I would buy them. That’s why I’m looking for advice before I splash out on equipment I may not need.
As for eating I mainly follow a GI diet style of eating. A typical day would be:
Breakfast – bowl of porridge or 2 boiled eggs and a slice of granary toast
Lunch – chicken in wholewheat roll
Dinner – two boiled potatoes, cauliflower, carrots and usually chicken or sometimes other meat. And I would have two or three apples during the day as a snack.
I don’t have any restrictions as far as injuries go, and I would be prepared to spend a fair bit of money on it, although I do have a wedding to pay for aswell. By the time I get home it’s about 7 and although it’s usually dark at seven it’ll probably start to brighten up in the evenings pretty soon so an outdoors activity might be possible. I’m 21, 5ft 4” and weigh 163lbs. I’m trying to get down at least another 25lbs, hopefully before August 08. I can’t think of anything else you might need to know but if there is anything please let me know and I’ll tell you. I’ll gratefully take any suggestions…

if getting to the gym on a regular basis will be too hard, than training at home will be best...all you'll need to buy is some adjustable dumbbell's with enough weight plates to make things hard and also a bench which doesn't have to be adjustable really...a more expensive yet convenient peice of equipment would be the bowflex set shown here:

you won't need to take on and off the wt plates with these and are easily stored but again are more costly

Oh, wedding in Maui. Sounds so beautiful! Lucky you. And congrats on the weight you have lost so far!

You really don't need to purchase that mucht o get a good workout. A few pieces of equipment such as dumbbells if you want to workout at home. WStrength training for full body, plus quality cardiovascular exercise will make a difference.

You are making some good choices for food. I would encourage you to make sure you are eating every 2.5-3 hours. Meals should be balanced with some good carbs, protein and a small amount of good fats. This will keep your metabolism burning nicely. It's important to make sure you are drinking plenty of water. Proper water intake allows the body to metabolize stored fat.
