I would like some advice and help.
I am 49
5' 7"
~155 lbs
I work in the oilfield offshore Africa in tropical environment on a FPSO, but am now a Supervisor and do not do bust asszz hard labor anymore. But I do a lot of stair climbing and vertical ladders each day as the work we are doing requires going into the Cargo Tanks every day.

At work and on days off I do the following routine probably 6 days per week or 7 days per week most all of the time. I do not miss much.

In the mornings when I wake up each day. I do 80 pushups, then I do 8 Chin Ups with the palms out and then 8 Chin Ups with the palms in.
Then at mid day I do a 1 hour walk/jog and cover about 6 miles. At home in Houston, Texas it is hot and humid and at work it is hot and humid so I am always soaked in sweat for the ~ 1 hr aerobic work.

Here is the problem: I have herniated discs in C-5, C-6, & C-7 due to the 1st 25 years in the oilfield - abuse of the young and dumb.

So I am needing to be careful and aware of the bad discs in neck but I also am fairly fit for my age. I would like to be able to increase the number of pull ups and push ups to about 100 pushups and dozen of both kinds of pull ups.

I am not interested in building up a look as I am way past them years.

I am interested in strength, health, and endurance for the long term rest of my life type program.

Any advice and comments would be most appreciated.

Thanks, gamboolman....

- why 100 push ups? it's better to make things harder than longer
- you can't do the same thing everyday and expect change, ecspecially training hard...the body needs rest
- can you add wt to your exercises (gym, equipment etc)?
