Re: Jen's Journal

I decided today I'm doing a half marathon at the end of November. I had an amazing run this morning. I'd forgotten how much fall weather energizes running. I can't NOT train for something after I've proven to myself that it's possible for me to train in the time I have. 8 weeks to race day. I'm sitt...

Re: ReVamp ... As Suggested by the Bossman!

Just read all of your story. Many ((Hugs)) to you. That is a really rough set of circumstances to come through with a good attitude, and it's obvious you're doing so! Congrats on being able to get back to the gym! I hope you continue making huge strides in progress and meet your goal of being able t...

Re: Jen's Journal

I'm recovered. Day after was rough. I must have been low on potassium because about 24 hours after the race was over, legs started burning like I'd just done an intense workout and started cramping up, so I gorged on potassium and iron rich foods and super-hydrated. Today I start back to routine. No...

Re: Jen's Journal

I just did first Triathlon yesterday. A TRIATHLON. I can't even believe I'm saying that. 4 and a half years ago I was 228 lbs and could barely run a mile at that time. Today I'm in the 150s... and I'm a triathlete. Granted, it was just a sprint tri, but the fact that I swam 500m , biked 12 miles, an...

Re: Jen's progress so far... In pictures. (:

It's just a sprint distance Tri. 12 miles of biking, 5k of running, 500m of swimming. Swimming is going to be the most challenging. It's been a long time since I've been on a swim team! I was 15 the last time I was swimming that distance regularly. I turn 31 next week.

Re: Jen's Journal

Still running, and lifting. Not doing cardio besides running right now per instructions by nutritionist. I've cut back on activity and upped calorie intake. Trying to see how I do. On the bright side... running has improved drastically lately and I've been able to average a 9:30 pace for multiple mi...

Re: Jen's progress so far... In pictures. (:

The nutritionist gave me some ideas about food intake (a) it wasn't enough even for bmr -1550 calories now- (b) I was underestimating calories burned and not eating enough to compensate (I was burning 700- 1000 calories a day, 5-6 days a week). water intake was high enough I was waterloading a littl...

Re: Jen's progress so far... In pictures. (:

I will post another pic when I get down to 153. That'll be 10 more lbs down from last pic. I'm at 154 and a half right now. I'd been stuck in a plateau for 3 months until this week. However... went to a nutritionist this week. body fat is 21.8%, which is in the ideal range. For the first time in lif...

Re: Jen's Journal

So I got the shock OF LIFE when I went to see a nutritionist this past week. When I started exercising 3.5 years ago body fat percentage was at about 42%. I'm at 21.8% body fat as of last Thursday!!!!!   I really was just hoping to be under 28% body fat. I now have 121.6 lbs of...

Re: Jen's progress so far... In pictures. (:

It will be 3 years in July since I really started getting serious about it, but I've lost 72 lbs total in the last 3.5 years. Gone from a size 16/18 at highest to a size 7/8 currently. I still have about 27 lbs to lose to be at ultimate goal weight. I've been overweight all life so this is a new exp...

Re: Jen's Journal

Still doing Insanity and running, and free weights, and now added in a few exercises with an 8 lb medicine ball and a pull-up bar. I'm doing 12-15 assisted pull-ups. I've lost 8 inches since March 1st, and I'm down to 155 lbs! I'm also down to a 29 inch waist, which is something I have not ever achi...
