Re: Adrenal Hyperplasia, The Dukan Diet & Strength Training

I read up on the diet and it seems to be a pretty good one. That mixed with weight training and cardio should produce some good results. The hardest part about dieting is sticking with it but if you make it to your goal, you can loosen the diet guidelines a great deal as long as you continue to trai...

Re: New to working out

Chris, you can lose sixty pounds in a year no problem. advice is to monitor your calorie intake and limit it to like 1,500 a day. And do an hour of cardio everyday. You'll lose that 60lbs in like 3 months. I had a friend who lost about a hundred pounds that way in like 4 months. I know its not the m...

Re: protein shakes - making me feel sick

I mix protein with water. It dissolves better. Doesn't taste as great as with milk but goes down a bit easier. I think protein shakes just take some getting used to. You should just drink a lot of water with them to dilute them so it's not like concrete sitting in your stomache. Hope this helps Chee...

Re: Exactly How Intense Should You Go?

I learned this through studying the ACE personal training course. This should explain the intensity you should use http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8vRWNb0suE" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Also the lower intensities burn a higher percentage of fat calories while the higher ...

Re: Trying to get six pack abs

Let's not make this all about diet. Yes diet is important on the quest for a six pack but the main goal is to lose body fat. best advice is gonna be to train your abs like never before and make sure you are getting some cardio sessions that are burning a lot of cals. I'd say train abs three times pe...

Re: run with sore legs

warm ups are important, they help the joints loosen and the blood start flowing at an increased level to better feed your muscles with oxygen and take away all the waste products produced during excercise. Think of your heart and the rest of your muscles as toffee. When its cold and you bend it ---...

Re: Feeling sleepy after exercise?

Working hard just makes you tired. Arnold used to get up in the morning, train, go home and sleep for 4 hours wake up and go train again. I would suggest monitoring your water intake because dehydration can cause fatigue even though you don't feel like you are dehydrated. Also, eat some fruit or dri...

Re: Help Needed

You should consult with a personal trainer. They are very helpful and you can find a good one for cheap. At gym the personal trainers give free consultations and they are extremely informative. Work with one for a week and you'll be able to figure the rest out for yourself. Also check this out http:...

Re: Don't You Dread The Seasonal Changes?

Haha Yes! I hate the winter. It makes me go into hibernation mode. I like going to the gym though because it gives me an opportunity to sweat a little bit instead of constantly freezing. But I know what you mean it is hard to find the motivation to go outside in the cold. Cheers :D http://dietandexe...

Re: Am I doing a complete workout for arms?

Put simply...It looks like you are hitting all of the muscles in the arms. But there are different ways to focus on the muscles. What I mean is hand position. like for curls I do two sets of wide grip and two sets of close grip. Wide grip will work the insides of your biceps more and close grip will...

Re: How do you keep motivated

Checking out other people's transformations always has helped me stay motivated. I have the "If they can do it so can I" mentality. Also if you track your progress (body weight, body fat percentage, waist, chest and arms measurements, 1 rep max) that seems to help. You can also take a pict...

Re: Gloves or No Gloves

I was just about to write an article about this. I strongly recommend using gloves. They pad your hands so heavy weights don't pince the muscles against your bones. They also protect from calluses which can eventually end up being extremely uncomfortable. In experience they protect your hands and do...

Re: Confusion over stretching

Warm up for like 5 mins. get a light sweat going then stretch after your muscles are warm because they will be able to stretch more and there is less chance of pulling a muscle during stretching. In yoga they call the point that you can't stretch any farther "Finding your edge". So find yo...
