Re: will protein shakes help me get abs showing

Protein shakes could actually have the opposite effect, bulking you up and taking away the definition you need. And as the above notes, and herbal supplement that says it reduces fat is likely to be ineffective, short lasting, or even dangerous. There is no real trick except to stick to a great ab r...

Re: Weight loss Supplements

I agree with the above. You could just make sure you are taking enough of the good stuff - the Vitamin Bs, Omega 3 (especially fish oil), etc - just the vitamins, minerals, and oils that can be helpful. However, the herbals are just unproven and really do little else than give a short-term boost. Mu...

Re: Food For Kids

Great post - very helpful! I would add that kids don't get nearly enough Omega 3 in their diet, since many kids don;t like fish (especially dark fish) and other sources of these - and they do a lot of good in children and adults as well. There are chewies that have omega 3s in them - choose carefull...

Re: Newbie needing help with everything.

If you are still looking for a great stretching routine, two favorites are ballistic stretching and pnf stretching . Both should not be taken lightly, however, since they are much more challenging (and potentially fruitful!) than the boring static stretching that is normally done. They are both quit...

Re: Acne when working out or sweating.

People have used hormone therapy to reduce acne problems related to hormones, and bioidentical hormone replacement is popular among athletes since the hormones are compounded specifically for ou, meaning that it can be a mix of hormones that can both reduce the breakouts and improve the effects of t...

Re: can you lose weight swimming?

If you do decide to get back into swimming, there are ways to mix things up and prevent burnout, such as using flippers, strapping small paddles to your hands, and just doing kicking with a kickboard. You can also get more enjoyment if you but waterproof radios that can be worn in the water - some p...

Re: is walking good enough for obese?

Walking along with diet control is a good way to start so that you don't overdo it. It is low impact so that you are not putting too much pressure on your knees, easy to do every day so it's easy to stick with, and can give you early results. As others have suggested, after a little time it would be...

Re: fat burning suggestions

I agree with BossMan, protein powder should not be costly - look for a reputable place that sells the concentrate online and ships for free. You can get quite a bit for a relatively low price. (Also go to an independent site that posts coupons and discount codes before you check out and see if you c...

Re: cardio weight loss. target the tummy

You could alternate swimming with other exercises in the pool, like water aerobics, water walking, and even dance. The natural resistance of the water will help your core, and it will be a nice break from doing laps!

Re: Cholesterol, some useful insights.

Great original post - very accurate and informative. I want mto echo the part that the last poster said - the name "good cholesterol" is misleading since you can have too much HDL. This can really fool people and prevent them from getting the medical help they need. _______________________...

Re: Can someone please help me?

I agree with Boss man as far as focusing on weight manaement right now, with some aerobic exercise mixed in (perhaps low impact and long duration). Do not try to spot tone, at least until you are at a weight that is a good match for your height. A quick change I'd make is to eat only whole foods and...

Re: Best cardio exercise

I vote for boxing, especially kick-boxing. problem with swimming is that unless you are relatively good a/o go relatively fast it is more a great toning exercise than a real cardio one. It's fantasic for your muscles and will get you in nice shape, but it will not get you winded unless you go fairly...

Re: Lower back strength

I agree with others that you should get checked out and make sure that what you are experiencing is temporary. For now, until it passess, it may be that all you will do is stretching and very gently strengthening your core, leaving the more stressful and straining exercises for later. The suggestion...

Re: Rest days

I agree with previos posters - two days of rest is absolutely vital. You can do something very mild those days - like a walk or something to burn a few calories. But don;t overdo it - if you don't give your body a chance to heal a little you could either end up burning out or getting an injury that ...

Re: How can I tone body ?

Hi. Are you sure you want to lose that much weight if you are gaining muscle too? Keep in mind that muscle weighs much more than fat, so you may be disappointed when you step on a scale, but happy when you look in a mirror. I would suggest that you start excellent diet and fitness routines - Weight ...
