Re: Involving son in this good life!

12 year old is the same way. I get him the heck out of the house, use the premise of running an errand, and then do something like go swimming or walking in the park, or anything really. The trick with son is just getting him away from the xbox!!!

Good luck, welcome!

Re: Fat - Muscle - Weight Loss????????

I would definitely start doing more plyometric/compound type exercises. It will help. Think P90X stuff.

Re: Fat - Muscle - Weight Loss????????

For every pound of muscle you put on, your body burns an additional 500 calories a day! Also you NEED to up your calories. For a man at your weight you need to take in more food. You may be in stasis with weight loss and toning because your body is just starving!!!

Re: Fat - Muscle - Weight Loss????????

Honestly unless you are lifting like a bodybuilder you aren't going to get big. I would suggest upping the weights and doing more compound movements (think burpees, pushups, lunges, squats, etc) and also, it looks like your calories are very low. Do you know what you get a day for cals, and what you...

Re: The "new" eating disorder...

I could see how it could get out of hand. Just like body dysmorphic disorder. You start to get obsessed!! You want to look good, and get on the right track, but then every tiny thing is scrutinized! I look back on before I had second child, when I was adamant about eating like a bodybuilder and work...

Re: Fat - Muscle - Weight Loss????????

Are you doing cardio? Strength training heavy? If you want to lose the gut, you need to rethink your diet. Are you doing high protein and high fat? Get some leafy greens in there daily and other veggies.
Good job so far!

Re: New member and insight wanted on lifestyle change

WOW great welcome! Thank you. The reason that I usually dont eat before the gym is honestly just time- I am running out the door to get there!! Re: first serious workout routine- tips??

You need to weight train more. It is a common misconception that you will make big gains in the muscle area. It will help tone and drop fat considerably. Keep the cardio, but do it after you weight train. suggestion is to do a workout like this: bicep curls 3 sets of 12, moderate weight overhead pre...

Re: New member and insight wanted on lifestyle change

meal plan is simple and easy, but varies with what I cook. I try to get to the gym at 5am or 530 so I can get it done and over with before I have the chance to make excuses. I usually weight train for 20 minutes and do 30 mins of cardio. But, like today, I have to go after work, so meals will be a ...

New member and insight wanted on lifestyle change

Hello, name is Pamela, and I just signed up for this board. I have yet to find a 'home' forum for weight loss/diet/exercise so I am hoping that this may be it. Wow, this is kind of long-winded I recently moved with bf to WA, where I know no one and am far from family and friends. Depression and weig...
