Re: 6 Pack Abs

For me, running is the best thing I can do to reduce fat anywhere on body. Spot reduction is a myth so performing an exercise like leg raises won't reduce any fat in the trouble area (although it will build muscle). Your diet has a large number of carbohydrates in the form of breads and sugar (fruit...

Re: Kettlebell work out for beginners

What exactly are you doing for the workout? Does the video provide you with isolation exercises (focusing on a single muscle group) or compound exercises (focusing on many muscle groups)? The good thing with kettlebell is that you can get some really good full body movement while using it. For examp...

Re: Running for Weight Loss

I could not agree more with your statement! I hear it from co-workers all the time: "I've been really good this week so I ate <insert unhealthy food here> as a treat to myself." This kind of mentality will keep people from reaching their weight loss goals which is a bit of a bummer conside...

Re: Balancing Muscles

It can also come down to your own personal anatomy. Some people are less symmetrical that others. This is completely normal. A great example of this is Michael Phelps. Look at his abs, they don't line up but I would say he's in pretty good shape.

Re: I don't care anymore about having six pack abs

It all comes down to what your fitness goals are. If you want a six-pack then you'll have to work for it. If you have no desire whatsoever, then it's not a big deal. Some people lift to build muscle to look good, others build muscle to perform better at sports or other physical activities. Lifting w...

Re: does hanging from a bar give v-shape

What Bossman said is correct. Hanging won't do much of anything and there is no muscular contraction. Wide-Grip Pull-Downs or Wide-Grip Pull-Ups are a great way to get lats flaring outward. If your goal is to simply just get a V-shape, be sure to mix things up a bit and do other lat exercises in you...

Re: abdominal excercises! need some good ones!

I'm a really big fan of doing leg raises and crunches on an exercise ball. If you have a pull-up bar, you can do hanging leg raises or personal favorite, the "L" (which can be done while doing pull-ups or just by hanging there. If you can, try holding the "L" position for 30-60 s...

Re: Will this workout/diet get six packs in 4-5 months

to be honest, it's more about knowing how many calories you're taking in vs. using day to day. The first key to getting a six pack is dropping weight which is what you're trying to do by lowering your body fat. You need to figure out the calories burned from the running, lifting, and other daily act...

Back extensions may help too. They're a bit less intimidating than deadlifts.

I love lower ab exercises.

Re: Names of exercises

I have found a great resource here: http://www.chunkfitness.com/exercises They list out exercises by muscle group. All have their names with demonstration videos as well as listing individual muscles used in the exercises. You can use the site search as well to find an exercise you might just know t...

Re: Can't get to that six pack...

I know everyone's been talking about diet but what about the exercises you're doing? Are you just cranking away on crunches all day or are you mixing it up? When I hit ab plateau, I started to incorporate a lot of different exercises to keep the muscles guessing. I was doing leg raises for the longe...

Re: Workout Abs Everyday?

I remember reading in the Arnold Bodybuilding book that during his peak training he would work his abs everyday. Personally, I think it has to be based on how you feel. If you're just doing simple stuff like leg raises and sit-ups, you're probably not going to be shredding your abs that much. If you...
