For big muscles, you need to do exercises with weights heavy enough to only allow you to 6-8 reps. Try wide pull ups and wide push ups. Do 2 seconds up, 1 second pause, 2 seconds down (vice versa for push ups). Repeat for 3-5 sets.

Reverse Curls are good.
Hanging from a pull up bar is good.

Core strength is used in EVERY exercise, so building up core strength is extremely important. Good video for beginners

1) I completely agree with this rule. Compound exercies smoke isolation exercises every time! 2) Ehhh.. Not true for everything. I found P90x to be entertaining, and it worked for me. You can use the program to get lean or gain muscle, so the choice is your's.
