Husband Got Fit, Now He's Unhappy

Hi folks, I'm not sure where to start, so please excuse any rambling I might do. husband used to be overweight. He's put in the work over nearly the last 2years, and now he looks fantastic. He's healthier than he's ever been, but it seems to have taken some of his joy. He seems pretty dissatisfied w...

Leaning out/Calorie Deficit

hey y'all, I have a question about calorie deficits for weight loss. According to the internet (which is always right), starvation mode is a myth. Apparently there is no point at which a calorie deficit becomes counter productive. I have to disagree. If a person doesn't eat enough, they wont have th...

Re: New Runner's Woes

Trying to correct stride caused me to hobble around for a day or two. After that straightened itself out, I went back to running way. So much better! I'm trying hard not to heel strike. The best I can manage right now is for most of foot to hit at once. Running on the ball of the foot is recommended...

Re: New Runner's Woes

Hi! Thanks for the reply. 1. I wouldn't say that jeans are tighter in the waist. legs, quads especially, felt pretty big. Maybe they were shocked ans swelled a bit lol. I've tried had to keep diet the same, unless I was past the point of hungry and felt starved or weak. 2. lol, sometimes i'm not cle...

New Runner's Woes

Hi Friends, I've started a new program for myself over the last couple of weeks. I strength train on Monday Wednesday and Thursday, with a high intensity boxing class on Wednesday night. The new part comes in on Tuesday and Fridays. I'm trying to work up to a solid two mile run, with a long term goa...

Re: Strength Training with Carpal Tunnel

Right, she's been in a brace and had the pain killers and shots. We'll do the exercises with no weight. She can flex and create her own tension with no issues, right?

Strength Training with Carpal Tunnel

Hello again! This time I'm here for work out buddy. She is an even greener lifter than I am, and she hasn't looked into the forums, so I wanted to post for her. She has been diagnosed with some pretty significant carpal tunnel in both writsts. She doesn't have a surgery date yet, but it's going to h...

Re: Trying to Reject Body Shaming

Thanks for the support. Matthew, I'm glad to hear that it's not just me having these issues, though I'm sorry you have to deal with it, too. I'm proud to be part of such a cool minority :D Normally I can let stuff like that roll off back and I don't care much for negative opinions. I think I just hi...

Re: Trying to Reject Body Shaming

Thank you! I think the other thing I'm struggling with is not being around like-minded people. Obviously it takes all types to make the world work, but not having the association is a challenge. I'm excited to embrace new body. Now, I just need to borrow your line to shut up the nay-sayers. Cheers!

Trying to Reject Body Shaming

hello! It's been a while, but you guys always know what to say to bring spirits back up. I'm very proud and happy to say that I've gained all the weight that I lost due to some diet restrictions I discovered a little over a year ago. To recap there: I found out that I am intolorant to gluten and oat...

Re: feels like period cramps after workouts

I do abs 5 days/wk. I try to vary the exercises so I don't cause strain on any one area, but I do them every time I work out.

feels like period cramps after workouts

Hello again, I have kind of a weird thing going on; I was just wondering if anyone else had this issue. The top of abs is pretty solid, so I've been working on the lower abs a bit more. Today, in addition to lower body lifts, I did plank twists, plank w/toe taps to the outside, side plank with a hip...

Re: Female athletes/lifters/gym addicts

Girlfriend, I am 28, and I still have insecurities just like yours. It's so hard to just be who we are, isn't it? I love your last post about strong being your sexy. That's awesome! Don't let some preconceived notion of the female body run your life. We can wear bikinis together next summer. you can...

Re: Feeling Oddly Insecure

I pretty much am the only female lifting weights, actually  The other girls hit the treadmill or head to the hoga room for a workout video. Which works for me. I don't like to chat while I'm working out. I'm going to keep at it; I would really hope I wouldnt get into head that far about it....

Re: Pushed too hard. Help!

I've read that chocolate milk is a great recovery drink. 8-10oz within an hour of your workout will give your body the little bit of sugar and the good protien it needs to repair the muscles you've worked on. Good luck!
