Re: Thyroid issues?

Not had expeience of what you're talking about, but things like hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, graves disease and hashmoto's disease, tend to have effects on your metabolism to the point where it's possible to lose or gain weight reasonable quickly, because your metabolism is underactive or overac...

Re: Help Needed

You are undereating and that is having an effect on your ability to lose weight. I've given this strategy to people before, so hopefully it should work for you. Breakfast Option 1. Bowl of Whole-grain Cereal and 1 rasher of Bacon, fat trimmed off and scrambled Eggs, (2 Egg Whites + Yolk) Option 2. P...

Re: Pre-workout supplement or drink

Moderate carbs and a decent protein content to energise and protect muscle mass, so things like chicken salad, low fat cheese, peanuts, chocolate milk, a protein shake with carbs in it, low fat protein bars with no rubbish like high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated fats, I:E ones with a 20g or h...

Re: Help Needed

Hi Diesel24, good to talk to you.

Have you access to a gym and if not do you train at home and if not, would you be willing to purchase some equipment?

What times do you eat at and what foods do you eat at those times?

Re: bike tours, 5k's and such

The main considerations when you're buying running shoes is the kind of running gait you have. Do you have a neutral gait, a suipnated one where the ankle rolls outwards, or a pronated one where the ankle rolls inwards. A decent cross trainer shoe will help you with running, but if you get a shoe ty...

Re: Started Walking & Exercise... No Weight Loss

Hi Cfbfan, good to talk to you. One possible reason for your stuttering results, is that some types of exercise can become less efficacious to the body the more the body gets used to them. One such situation is when people do steady state cardio. If you are doing this you might want to think about s...

Re: Slow exercises

Basically the main difference is the emphasis on the muscles. I personally don't see enough added benefit to favour it over nomal duration reps of say 2-3 seconds a rep

Set breaks can be around 30-60 seconds for small muscles and 90-120 seconds for big muscles.

Re: newbie

You don't need any time between reps really, as you might allow a rest period between reps, then you lose some of the efficacy from the set, because the constant tension in the muscle is sacrificed. As for as many sets as you can then you need a limit, as you cannot just push a muscle too much due t...

Re: How much beer do you drink a week or month?

Ideally don't drink any, or if you must go for 0% stuff. Food and soft drink carbohydrates contain 4 calories per gram, but alcohol carbohydrates contain 7 calories per gram, so every gram of alcohol carbohydrate is 75% more calorific than any other kinds of carbohydrate.
